HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-010 - Establishment of Procedure for Payment of ObligationsBILL NO. 96-10 ORDINANCE NO. 96-10 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A PROCEDURE FOR THE PAYMENT OF OBLIGATIONS BY THE CITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2.9 of the Riverside City Code is hereby repealed. Section 2. A new Section 2.9 of the Riverside City Code is enacted to read as follows: "Section 1. Except for the salaries of all full time City employees, all bills or other obligations to be paid by the City shall first be approved by the Board of Aldermen, signed by the Mayor, attested by the City Clerk and have the seal of the City affixed thereof. It shall be the responsibility of the City Administrator to cause all bills to be considered for payment to be presented to the Board of Aldermen as often as the City Administrator deems is necessary, but not less frequently than once each month. Section 2. The Mayor is authorized to pay by check drafted on the City's depository, the salary of all City employees at the monthly or hourly rate fixed by the Board of Aldermen until said employee shall be terminated by the Board of Aldermen or shall resign or his connection with the City shall cease. Section 3. The Mayor shall be authorized to pay the salary of all City employees on a bi-weekly schedule. Section 4. The Mayor shall be authorized hereby to pay and remit federal and state withholding taxes when the same are due without further authorization." Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby directed to make the appropriate changes to the Riverside City Code of the City of Riverside, Missouri.
