HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-69 - Amendments to Section 19.925 of the Municipal CodeBILL NO. ~~~~~ y e shall become effective upon directed to make the requisite AN ORDINANCE REVISING SECTION 19.925, USE OF CHILD PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEMS REQUIRED OF THE RIVERSIDE CODE. WHEREAS, the State has made certain revisions to its statutes as it pertains to the use of child passenger restraint systems; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that the best interest for the health, welfare and safety of its residents to amend its child passenger restraint system ordinance. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 19.925 of the Riverside Code is deleted and a new Section 19.925 shall read as follows: "A. Every person residing in this State transporting a child under the age of four (4) years residing in this State shall be responsible, when transporting such child in a motor vehicle operated by that person on the streets or highways of this City, for providing for the protection of such child. When traveling in a motor vehicle, the child shall be protected by a child passenger restraint system approved by the Department of Public Safety of the State of Missouri. The provisions of this section shall not apply to any public carrier for hire. B. Any person who violates this section upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not more than Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00) and Court costs." Section 2.
