HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-40 - Results of Special ElectionBILL NO. ~q-~~ ORDINANCE NO. 89-~"~ AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, ON TUESDAY, JUNE 6, 1989, ON THE QUESTION WHETHER TO ISSUE THE SEWERAGE SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500,000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING ADDITIONS TO AND EXTENDING AND IMPROVING THE SEWERAGE SYSTEM OF THE CITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF' ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That it is hereby found and declared that the vote at the special election held in the City of Riverside, Missouri, on Tuesday, June 6, 1989, on the question whether to issue the sewerage system revenue bonds of the City of Riverside, Missouri, in the amount of $1,500,000 for the purpose of constructing additions to and extending and improving the sewerage system of the City, the principal of and interest on said revenue bonds to be payable solely from the revenues derived by said City from the operation of its sewerage system, including all future extensions and improvements thereto, resulted as follows: r POLLING PLACE YES NO VOID Riverside 237 181 -- ABSENTEE 13 0 -- TOTAL 250 181 __ Section 2. That it is hereby found and declared that more thar: a majority of the qualified voters of the City of Riverside, Missouri, voting on said question at said election voted in favor of issuing said revenue bonds in the amount of $1,500,000 for the purpose aforesaid, and that the governing body of said City is therefore vested with full power and authority to proceed with the issuance of said bonds. Section 3. That it is further found and declared that notice of said election was duly given by publication in the manner provided by law, and that said election was held and conducted in all respects in conformity with the Constitution and laws of the State of Missouri. Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval. PASSED by the Board of Aldermen this 20th day of June, 1989. Mayor [SEAL) ATTc;ST I ,,.~~~/ City C erk -2- EXCERPT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN The Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, met in regular session on June 20, 1989, at 7:30 P.M., at the City Hall, 4500 N.W. High Drive in Riverside, Missouri, the following officers being present or absent as indicated: Present/Absent Betty Burch, Mayor Sandra Kuhlman, Alderman Jimmy Karr, Alderman Ed Rule, Alderman Brenda Teters, Alderman Sheree Shepard Eugene D. Richardson Grace Kemerling, City Clerk Present, Present Present Present Present Present Present nt The Mayor declared that a quorum was present and called the meeting to order. The minutes of the last meeting of the Board of Aldermen were read and approved. (Other Proceedings) Thereupon, the City Clerk presented the returns of the special bond election held in the City on Tuesday, Jur.e 6, 1989, on the question whether to issue $1,500,000 of sewerage system revenue bonds of the city. The Abstract of Votes of the County Clerk and other instruments and papers relating to said election were thereupon examined by the Board of Aldermen. Thereupon, Alderman Karr introduced Bill No. g _~a~, being for an Ordinance entitled as follows: AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, ON TUESDAY, JUNE 6, 1989, ON THE QUESTION WHETHER TO ISSUE THE SEWERAGE SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500,000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING ADDITIONS TO AND EXTENDING AND IMPROVING THE SEWERAGE SYSTEM OF THE CITY. The City Clerk reported that copies of the proposed ordinance had been made available for public inspection prior to the time the Bill was introduced and under consideration by the Board of Aldermen. On motion duly made and seconded, said Bill was placed on its first reading and was read by title and duly passed by unanimous vote. On motion duly made and seconded, said Bill was placed on its second reading and was read by title and duly passed by unanimous vote. Thereupon, Alderman K,~,rr moved that said Bill be placed on its final passage. Said motion was seconded by Alderman Rule Said Bill was thereupon read and considered, section by section, and was duly passed by the following vote: Aye: Kuhlman, TeT,ers, Kerr, SHepard, Rule and Richardson Nay: The Mayor thereupon declared said Ordinance duly passed and the Bill was then duly numbered Ordinance No.89-4n and was thereupon signed and approved by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk.
