I know that you understand that his compensation is actually based upon $3,104, per month for three months. Since 2 the Board of Police Commissioners would not permit him to receive more than $1,000, per month, we have spread the income to him over a longer period of time. I have told him that we have not provided in the ordinance for the extra $312. compensation (,104. x 3) but I suspect you will pay this as it is consistent with my discussion with Colonel Fletcher as authorized by you. It would be my suggestion that you consider isolating for bookkeeping purposes $2,104, per month for the months of September, October and November and then pay it out over the nine months as provided by the contract. HE will be available as a consultant after the three months have past, should the new Director of Public Safety desire to talk with him about City problems. Should his regular employment extend beyond the three months, then you will want to consider an addendum to the contract so that he will be paid the $1,000, per month for a longer period than nine months. Yours very truly, ~~ G~.~ Don Wit t DW:ms Encl. cc: Grace Kemerling
