AN OKDINANCE ENACTING AN ALCOHOL ANll PdON-PRESCRIBED
CONTROLLED DROG POLICY FOR THE EMPLOYEES OF THE CI`PY OF
RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI.
YE IT ORDAINED BY THE' BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI AS EOLLOG~S:
SECTION 1. That the City of Riverside, Missouri hereby
adopts the attached policy regarding alcohol and non-prescribed
controlled drugs marked as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein.
SECTION 2. All provisions of the code of the City of
Riverside, Missouri which are inconsistent herewith are
repealed and amended to conform with this ordinance.

POLICY OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI FOR
ALCOHOL OR NON-PRESCRIBED CONTROLLED DRUGS
1. Purpose of Policy. The purpose of this policy is to
protect the health and safety of employees by insuring that all
employees are fit for duty while on the job. Employee involvement
with alcohol or drugs can adversely affect the work environment, job
performance and safety, whether such use is on or off duty.
2. General Policy Statement.
a. It is the policy of the City of Riverside to prohibit
the use, sale, dispensing, possession or manufacture of alcohol
or non-prescribed controlled drugs while on the City's property,
City's job sites, conducting City business, possessing a City
ormed vehicle or while the individual is on duty.
b. Employees will be subject to disciplinary action, up
to and including dismissal, for bringing non-prescribed
controlled drugs or alcoholic beverages to work; reporting to
work under the influence or impaired by alcoholic beverages or
non-prescribed controlled drugs; being under the influence of
alcohol or non-prescribed controlled drugs while working; using
or possessing alcohol or non-prescribed controlled drugs while
working; dispensing, distributing or illegally manufacturing or
selling alcohol or non-prescribed controlled drugs while on the
City's property, City's job sites, conducting City business,
possessing a City owned vehicle or while the individual is on
duty.
c. If an employee is allowed to use a City vehicle while
off duty, the employee will be subject to disciplinary action,
up to and including dismissal for being under the influence of
alcohol or non-prescribed controlled drugs while operating the
vehicle or using, selling, dispensing, possessing or
manufacturing alcohol or non-prescribed controlled drugs while
in physical control or operating the vehicle.
3. Comments Regarding this Policy. Employees, their
possessions, and City issued equipment, including vehicles and
containers under their control, are subject to search and
surveillance at all times while on the City's property, City's job
sites, conducting City business, possessing a City owned vehicle or
while the individual is on duty.
4. Employee-at-will. I understand that I am an
employee-at-will and that I am subject to termination at any time,
for any reason, with or without cause or notice and by signing this
alcohol and non-prescribed controlled drug policy statement, this
will not alter my position as an employee-at-will. At the same
time, I understand that I may terminate my employment at any time
and for any reason.
5. Aware of Policy and Receipt of Copy. I have read the above
alcohol and non-prescribed controlled drug policy, understand the
policy and agree to the policy. Additionally, I have received a
copy of this policy.
