AN ORDINANCE REPFALID;G SEC`PION 19.17 OF THE RIVERSIDE CITY
CODE AND REPEALING SECTION 1 of SECTION 14.18 OF THE RIVERSIDE.
CITY CODE AND ENACTING TWO NEW SECTIONS IN LIE[J THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI P.S FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Section 14.17 of the Riverside City Code is
repealed and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be
known as Section 14.17 of the Riverside City Code, which shall
read as follows:
"The Director of Public Safety, the City Attorney, or duly
authorized representatives of either are hereby authorized
to enter and inspect all buildings and parts of buildings
and other premises, in the daytime, for the purpose of
examining the sanitary condition or other condition
detrimental to the health, safety or welfare of the
residents of the City, the existence of which constitutes a.
nuisance. Provided however, sur_h city official shall first
obtain an administrative search warrant from the Municipal
Judge or, in the alternative, shall obtain the consent of
the owner or occupant of the premises. If on such
inspection, any nuisance or unsanitary condition be found,
then the official may follow the provisions set forth by
this chapter for the abatement of the nuisance."
SECTION 2. Section 1 of Section 14.18 of the Riverside
City Code is repealed and one new section enacted in lieu
thereof, to be known as Section 1 of Section 14.18 of the
Riverside City Code, which shall read as follows:
"The Director of Public Safety, or the Director's duly
authorized representatives, is hereby empowered to abate or
remove either by draining, filling, purifying, removing,
burning or discontinuing ar~y nuisance from any cause
whatsoever. Provided however, the abatement by the City of
arty nuisance requiring vacation and the mandatory
demolition of buildings and structures or mandatory repair
and maintenance of buildings or structures shall be
governed by the procedures set forth in Section 14.18A of
this chapter. For purposes of this section, the Director
of Public Safety shall be deemed to be the building
inspector of the City of Riverside."

SECTION 2: All provisions of the code of the City of
Riverside, Missouri which are inconsistent herewith are
repealed and amended to conform with this ordinance. The City
Clerk is directed to incorporate the provisions of this
ordinance into the appropriate sections of the City Code.
