AN ORDINANCE SETTING NEW SEINER RATES PURSUANT TO REC~IUIRE-
MENTS OF CONTRACT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOV~'S:
1. Section 1 of Code Section 16.7 regarding the rates to
be charged for the use and service of public sewers is hereby
amended by repealing the present Section 1 of Code Section 16.7
and enacting in lieu thereof a new Section 1 of Code Section
16.7, to read as follows:
SECTION 1. There is hereby levied a charge to be known
as a sewer service charge against each person, firm or
partnership and association occupying or owning property
having a sewer connection with the sewer system on the
City of Riverside, Missouri, (including those sewers built
pursuant to a reciprocal agreement with the City of Kansas
City, Missouri, on August 16, 1965) or having sewers
available for connection or otherwise discharging sewage
and industrial waste water or liquid into the sewer system,
said charge to be as follows:
(a) I'or each single family residential sewer connection,
a charge of $8.87 per month.
(b) For each apartment house, mobile home park or
other multiple family residential sewer connection, a sewer
charge of $.40 cents per 100 cubic feet of water purchased,
plus an addition thereto of a service charge of seven and
one-half percent (7 1/2`x) of the volume charge, plus an
addition thereto of a service charge of $4.17 per month.
(c) For each commercial establishment, a sewer charge
of $.40 cents per 100 cubic feet of water purchased, plus
an addition thereto of a service charge of ten percent (10`x)
of the volume charge with a minimum service charge of $3.00
per month, plus an addition thereto of a service charge of
$4.17 per month.
(d) For each industrial establishment, a sewer charge
of $.40 cents per 100 cubic feet of water purchased plus an
addition thereto of a service charge of twenty-five percent
(25io) of the volume charge with a minimum service charge of
$5.00 per month, plus an addition thereto of a service
charge of $4.17 per month.
(e) For waste from each commercial and industrial
establishment containing suspended solids in excess of
360 parts per million by weight or having biochemical
oxygen demand in excess of 300 parts per million by weight,
there shall be added to this charge a surcharge equal to
that surcharge charged to the City of Riverside by the City
of Kansas City, Missouri, pursuant to the reciprocal sewer
service agreement.
2. If the sewer charges set forth in this ordinance are
found by a court of law to be unconstitutional, the previous
Section 1 of Code Section 16.7, which was in effect prior to
the passage of this ordinance, shall return to full legal force
and effect.
3. Should any section, sentence or clause of this ordinance
be declared invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration shall
not affect the validity of the remaining sections.
4. This ordinance shall become effective July 1, 1987.

This is to advise that Kansas City plans t.o increase its sewn service
charge by adopCion of Ordinance No. 60822.
The CUOPEItATIVE AGREEMENT FOR SEWER SERVICE with Che City of Riverside
provides for increases in sewer service charges. The revised rates
apply to all sewer service accounts for which billings are issued on
and after May 1, 1987. The new monthly rate for one- and two-family
residontial customers will be $5.10.
New rates applicable to multiple family dwellings, commercial and
industrial establishments are a service cf~iarge of $2.40 per month, or
54.20 where bills are rendered bi-monthly, plus a commodity charge of
50.40 per hundred cubic feet. Surcharge rates for extra strength
wastes continue at $0.071 per pound for BOD strengths in excess of
300 my/1 and 50.41 per pound for suspended solids strengths in excess
of 360 mg/l.
