AN ORDINANCE?REPEALING SEC'PIONS 4.3, 4.4, 4.6 and 4.24 OF
ORDINANCE NG 7h~'~-t~6-~~ OF THE CI`PY GF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI
REGARDING THE SELECTION, '.?'ERM OF OFFICE AND QUALIFICFiTIONS FOR
MUNICIPAL JUL'GES AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF THREE NEW
SECTIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED THAT:

S2ct.ion 1. Section 4.3 of Ordinance No. Vii-6-3-x- is hereby
repealed in its entirety and there is adopted in lieu thereof
one new Sec°tioa 4.3 as follows:
4.3 Selection of Judge. The ,Judge of the Ci.ty's Municipal
Court. shall be known as a Municipal Judge of the Sixth Judicial
Circuit. Court for the State of Missouri and sha'1 he selected
as fol_1ows:
1. The i•7unicipal Judge shall be appointed to his position
by the Mayor of the City with the consent of a
majority of the Board of Aldermen for a term as
specified herein.

Section 2. Section 4.4 of Ordnance No. 5-6-~37 is repealed
in its entirety ar.d one new v'ection 4.4 is adopted i.n lieu
thereof as follows:
4.4 Term of Office. The Municipal Judge shall hold his
office for a period of two (2) years from the date of his
appointment. IF for any reason a Municipal Judge vacates his
office, his successor shall complete the term of of;-ice even if
the same be for less than two (2) years.

Section 3. Section 4.6 of Ordinance No. -BG~- is repealed
in its entirety and ane new Section 4.6 is adopted in lieu
thereof as follows:
4. Qualifications for Office. '.Phe Municipal Judge shall
possess the fellowinq_ qualifications before he shall take
office:
Le He must be a resident of the State of Missouri.
2. He must be between the ages of twenty-one (21) and
seventy-five (75) years.
s. If not a licensed attorney, he must within six (6)
months after his selection to the position
satisfactorily complete a course of instruction of
Munici~;al Judges as prescribed by the State Supreme
Court.
4. The Municipal Judge shall be considered holding a part
time position and as such may accept (within the
requirements of the Code of Judicial Conduct, Missouri
Supreme Court. Rule 2) other employment.

Section 4. Section 4.24 of Ordinance No. ~6-"',7 i.s repealed
in its entirety and one new Section 4.24 is adopted in lieu
'thereof as follows:
4.24 'Temaorary Municipal .7u_dge. If a Municipal Judge be
absent, sic; or disqualified from acting, the Mayor may
designate some competent, eligible person to act as Municipal
Judge until such absence or disqualification shall cease;
provided, howe~:~er, that should a vacancy occur in the office of
the Municipal Judge prior to the expiration of his term of
appointment then a special appointment. shall be made by the
Mayor to fill such vacancy. The appointment so made shall not
require the advice or consent of the Board of Aldermen.
Noth?.ng in this section shall prohibit application and
assi_gament of. Special Judge by the tissouri Supreme Court. The
Board of Aldermen shall provide by Ordinance for the
compensation af. a.ny person designated to act as Municipal Judge
under the provisions of this section.
