JC'�CC> AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, TO EMPLOY BR�ANDON M WILCOX AS A FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAI=ETY AND ESTABLISHING A SALARY AND START DATE FOR SUCH EMPLOYEE WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.070 provides for the appointment of employees of the City� by the City Administrator with approval of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen; and WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.140 provides for the establishment of the salary of non- elec:ted employees of the City by ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen find it is in the best interest of the City to approve the appointment of Brandon M. Wilcox as a Police Officer in the Department of Public Safety as provided herein; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1— HIRING OF EMPLOYEE. Brandon M. Wilcox is hereby employed as a Full- Time Police Officer in the Department of Public Safety. SECTION 2— STARTING SALARY. The starting salary for this position shall be set at $37,650.00 per year and the employee shall be placed on a one-year work test period. The salary shail thereafter be adjusted according to the annual budget and the personnel policies and procedures of the City as may be adopted from time to time. SECTION 3- REPEAL OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 4— SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. The provisions of this ordinance are severable and if any provision hereof is declared invalid, unconstitutional or unenforceable, such determination shall not affect the validity of the remainder of this ordinance. SECTION 5— EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of April 5, 2011. This position resulted from the transfer of Patrolman Karen Holland to the fire division. Subsequently this vacant position is available with current budget funds. Police officers must have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers and supervisors; the ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions and to demonstrate good �vork ethics.
