HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988-44 - Prohibition on Use of Fireworks During Drought ConditionsPILL NC. 88-44 ORDINANCE N0. 88-44 AN ORDINANCE TO PROHIEIT THE USE OF ALL FIREWORKS WITHIN THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI DUE TO DROUGHT CONDITIONS. 41HEREAS, the present Riverside City Code Section 12.8 subsection 4.A allows fireworks to be discharged from the dates of June 25 to July 5. WHEREAS, due to severe drought conditions it is necessary to ban all use of fireworks for safety reasons. EE IT ORDAINED PY THE POARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY CF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Due to the present drought conditions, it shall be unlawful for any person to use or discharge any fireworks within the City limits of Riverside. SECTION 2. Fireworks is defined under Section 12.7 subsection 1.P and Section 12.8 subsection 1.C of the Riverside City Code. SECTION 3. This ban on fireworks is effective June 23. 1988 1988 through July 6, 1988, unless there is a drastic change in present rainfall amounts to warrant the Mayor of Riverside to lift this ban. SECTION 4. Any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined a sum of not less than Fifty Dollars (50.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars (500.00), or by imprisonment in the City Jail or Platte County Jail for a term not exceeding ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and such imprisonment. Each instance of unlawful use or discharge shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such hereunder. PASSED THIS 23rd DAY OF June , 1988.
