PE IT ORDAINED BY THE ECARD CF ALDERMEN CF THE CITY CF RIVFRSIDF, MISSCORI AS FCLLC4v°: SECTICN 1. Section 2.15 of the Code of the City of Riverside, Misscuri is hereby repealed. P, new Section 2.15 is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, which shall read as follews: 2.15 DECLARATION OF CANDIDATES - PRCVIDIP'G FCR NOTICE CF ELECTICN - PROVIDING FCR COMPENSATION FCR THE ELECTICN JUDGE AND CLERKS - CPNVASSINC CF OFFICIAL RETURNS CF ELECTICN SECTICN 1. DECLARATION CF CANDIDACY. All candidates for office shall also file with the City Clerk of the City at the same time they file their declaration of candidacy, an affidavit subscribed and sworn by such candidate, showing the length of ti~re that such candidate hae been a resident of the City of Riverside and stating such candidate's aae. SECTICN 2. DATES FCR FILING CF DFCLARATICNS. The opening date for filing a declaration of candidacy for any municipal office shall be 8:00 a.m. on the 14th Tuesday prior to the election. The closing date for filing a declaration of candidacy for any municipal. office sha]] be 5:00 p.m. on the 9th Tuesday prior to the election; provided however, all candidates for offices at any special election shall file their declaration of candidacy at least ten (10) days before the election. SEC`IICN 3. FORM CF DECLARATION CF CANDIDACY. Any Person who desires to become a candidate for any city election, for any elective office, shall file with the City Clerk of the City of Riverside a written declaration of his intent to become a candidate at said election. The form of the written declaration shall be substantially as follows: TC THE CLERK CF THE CITY CF RIVFRSIDF, MISSOORI: I, the undersigned, having a]1 of the legal aualifications required by law, hereby notify you, ir. writing, that I am and shall be a candidate, at the ensuing municipal election. for the office of office, if aldermen, ward and request you to Pace my name on the official ballot as a candidate at said election for the aforesaid office. gnature SECTICN 4. NOTICE CF FIFCTICN. Not ]ater than 5:00 F.m. on the 8th Tuesday prior to any election, except a special. election to decide an election contest or tie vote, the City Clerk shall notify the County Clerk of the election. The notice shall be in writir.o, acd shall sFecify the name of the officer er agency ca]ling the election and shall include a certified copy of the legal cotice to be published pursuant to Section 115.127.2 R.S.NO. Each such legal notice shall inc]ude the date and time of the election, the name of the officer or ao_ency calling the election and a samFle ballot. In the case of sFecial elections, in lieu of certifies' copy of the legal notice to be published Pursuant to section 115.127.2 R.S.No., each notice of a sFecial election to fill a vacancy shall include the name of the office to be filled, the date of the election and the date by which candidates must be selected or filed for the office. Not later than the 4th Tuesday Prior to any sFecial election to fil] a vacancy ca]led by the City, the City Clerk shall certify a sample bal]ct to the County Clerk. CERTIFICATION IN SPECIAL ELECTION. After all votes have been registered and counted in any sFecial election administered by the City then the Judges and Clerks shall. certify the results of said election to the City Clerk either on the day of the electicn or or the following day. Returns shall be canvasses' by the Poard of Aldermen at its next meeting following the election and the results thereof mace a Fart of the record of the City. Each person declared elected shall receive a Certificate of Election issued by the City Clerk. SECTION 8. POLLING PLACE, The polling place shall be that place designated by the election authority or when permitted by law, by the Board of Aldermen, SECTION 9. TIMF FCR VCTINC.
