HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-088 - Metro Org to Counter Sexual Assaulta Bill No. 2008-88 Ordinance No. 2008-88 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, TO PAY CERTAIN FUNDS TO THE METROPOLITAN ORGANIZATION TO COUNTER SEXUAL ASSAULT WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault ("Service Provider") is anot-for-profit corporation providing a number of different services to adult and child victims of sexual-based crimes which include ongoing counseling, hospitallpolice/court advocacy ("Services"), to residents of the Kansas City region, including the City of Riverside (the "City"); and WHEREAS, Service Provider desires to continue to provide such Services and requires funding to continue to provide the Services within the City; and WHEREAS, the City finds that the provision of the Services is a public purpose and the City has the capability and desire to assist the Service Provider in continuing to provide Services to the public within the City; and WHEREAS, the City's Board of Aldermen believes that the City's best interest are promoted and aided by providing funds to the Service Provider for the provision of Services; and WHEREAS, the City has agreed upon an amount which the City will provide to the Service Provider; and WHEREAS, the City finds that the provision of Services is for a public purpose and is to be advisable and in the City's best interests for the promotion of the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the City; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE C[TY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. This Ordinance is intended and is hereby determined and declared to be necessary to accomplish and serve the public purpose of contributing to the general welfare of the City and its residents. Section 2. The City of Riverside shall pay to the Service Provider the sum of One Thousand Dollars No Cents ($1,000) to assist it in continuing to provide Services to the residents ol'the City. Section 3. The Mayor, the City Administrator, the City Attorney and other appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to take any and all actions as may be deemed necessary or convenient to carry out and comply with the intent of this Ordinance and to execute and deliver for and on behalf of the City all certificates, instruments, agreements and other document:;, as maybe necessary or convenient to perform all matters herein authorized.
