BILL NO. 2012-020 ORDINANCE NO. � AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, TO EMPLOY WAYNE GRAY AS A FULL-TIME FIREFIGHTER/EMT IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND ESTABLISHING A SALARY AND START DATE FOR SUCH EMPLOYEE WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.070 provides for the appointment of employees of the City by the City Administrator with approval of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen; and WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.140 provides for the establishment of the salary of non- elected employees of the City by ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen find it is in the best interest of the City to approve the appointment of Wayne Gray as a Firefighter/EMT in the Department of Public Safety as provided herein; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1— HIRING OF EMPLOYEE. Wayne Gray is hereby employed as a Full-Time Firefighter/EMT in the Department of Public Safety. SECTION 2— STARTING SALARY. The starting salary for this position shall be set at $37,650 per year and the employee shall be placed on a one-year work test period. The salary shall thereafter be adjusted according to the annual budget and the personnel policies and procedures of the City as may be adopted from time to time. SECTION 3- REPEAL OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 4— SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. The provisions of this ordinance are severable and if any provision hereof is declared invalid, unconstitutional or unenf�rceable, such determination shall not affect the validity of the remainder of this ordinance. SECTION 5— EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of April 18, 2012. City of Riverside Ordinance Overview April 20�2 Overview The Department of Public Safety Fire Division is filling an opening for a full- time Firefighter/EMT. Firefighters must have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in �vriting; the ability to establish and maintain effective tivorking relationships �nth subordinates, peers and supervisors; the ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions and to demonstrate good �vork ethics. Great care is taken to ensure selected candidates meet Department standards and possess the ability for gro�vth. - We have found that in Wayne Gray. Mr. Gray is a graduate of the Jahnson County KS. Fire Academy, and presently works for the Bonner Springs Fire department part-time as a firefighter / EMT. In addition he owns his o�m Rea] Estate office. Mr. Gray has numerous certifications in the fire service. Mr. Gray is anxious to be a part of our team and he understands the importance of the position he is applied for.
