AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, TO EMPLOY
ANDREW DRESSLER AS A FULL-TIME FIREFIGHTERIEMT IN THE DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC SAFETY AND ESTABLISHING A SALARY AND START DATE FOR SUCH
EMPLOYEE
WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.070 provides for the appointment of employees of the
City by the City Administrator with approval of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen; and
WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.140 provides for the establishment of the salary of non-
elected employees of the City by ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen find it is in the best interest of the City to approve the
appointment of Andrew Dressler as a Firefighter/EMT in the Department of Public Safety as
provided herein;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1— HIRING OF EMPLOYEE. Andrew Dressler is hereby employed as a Full-
Time Firefighter/EMT in the Department of Public Safety.
SECTION 2— STARTING SALARY. The starting salary for this position shall be set at
$37,650 per year and the employee shall be placed on a one-year work test period. The salary
shall thereafter be adjusted according to the annual budget and the personnel policies and
procedures of the City as may be adopted from time to time.
SECTION 3- REPEAL OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT. All ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4— SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. The provisions of this ordinance are severable and if any
provision hereof is declared invalid, unconstitutional or unenforceable, such determination shall not affect
the validity of the remainder of this ordinance.
SECTION 5— EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of April 20,
2012.
BE IT REMEMBERED that the above was read two times by heading only, passed and
apprpved by a majority of the Board of Aldermen and APPROVED by the Mayor of the City of Riverside,

Overview
The Department of Public Safety Fire Division is fiiling an opening for a full- time
Firefighter/EMT.
Firefighters must have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in
writing; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships �2th
subordinates, peers and supervisors; the ability to exercise sound judgment in
evaluating situations and in making decisions and to demonstrate good work ethics.
Great care is taken to ensure selected candidates meet Department standards and
possess the ability for growth. - We have found that in Andrew Dressler
Mr. Dressler is a graduate of the Blue River Fire Academy, and presently works
for the Sugar Creek Fire department part-time as a firefighter / EMT. In addition he
works for the Smithville Are Fire Protection District as a volunteer firefighter / F.MT.
Mr. Dressler has numerous certifications in the fire ser��ice.
Mr. Dressler is anxious to be a part of our team and he understands the
importance of the position he is applied for. His start date will be Friday April2otn,
BUDGETARYIMPACT:
The startin� salary for Mr. Dressler will be that of an entry level firefighter in "range F",
$37,650 annually.
