HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2012-158 Purchase of 2013 Chevy Police Tahoe Resolution No. R— 2012 - 158 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE 2073 CHEVROLET POLICE TAHOE VEHICLE FROM ROBERTS CHEVROLET BUICK OFF THE MID AMERICA COUNCIL FOR PUBLIC PURCHASING CONTRACT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $37,000 WHEREAS, the Police Department has a need for acquisition of one vehicle to replace an older Police vehicle used daily; and WHEREAS, the City of Riverside in the adoption of its purchasing policy has approved the practice of purchasing equipment from competitive bids awarded by other governmental entities through the cooperative bidding process; and WHEREAS, Mid America Council for Public Purchasing (MACPP) has competitively bid and awarded a contract to Roberts Chevrolet Buick; and WHEREAS, funds for such purpose are budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2012-2013 budget; and WHEREAS, the City of Riverside finds it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Riverside to authorize and approve the purchase of one 2013 Chevrolet Police Tahoe in an amount not to exceed $31,000; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: THAT the purchase of one 2013 Chevrolet Police Tahoe in an amount not to exceed $31,000 is hereby authorized and approved; and FURTHER THAT the Police Chief and/or the City Administrator, or his designee, are hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary or incidental to this transaction and the City Clerk is authorized to attest thereto. Approve s to Form: ��� �` Nar► y mj on, City Attorney l Riverside Department of Public Safety AGENDA DATE: December 4, 2012 BACKGROUND: On July 17, 2012 the Board of Aldermen passed Resolution 2012- 099 that allowed for the purchase of a vehicle from the auto auction for an amount not to exceed $32,000 to replace an older vehicle in the police fleet. This purchase was approved in the in the 2012-2013 budget. For several months this purchase has been attempted, however used vehicle auto auction prices have been excessive. A new, police version vehicle has proven to be a better a better expenditure of allocated funds. BUDGETARY IMPACT: Vehicle purchase price off of the MARC bid in an amount not to exceed $31,000. Emergency equipment, also already budgeted, will be presented in the future.
