AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF CARI TERPENING FROM A POSITION
AS A FULL-TIME DISPATCHER IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO A FULL-TIME
POLICE OFFICER AND ESTABLISHING A SALARY AND START DATE FOR SUCH
EMPLOYEE IN THE POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER
WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.070 provides for the appointment of employees of the
City by the City Administrator with approval of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen; and
WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.140 provides for the establishment of the salary of non-
elected employees of the City by ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen find it is in the best interest of the City to approve the
appointment of Cari Terpening as a Police Officer in the Department of Public Safety as provided
herein;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1— TRANSFER OF EMPLOYEE. Cari Terpening is hereby employed as a Full-
Time Police Officer in the Department of Public Safety.
SECTION 2— STARTING SALARY. The starting salary for this position shall be set at
$37,650 per year retroactive to December 13, 2012 and the employee shall be placed on a one-
year work test period in the position of Police Officer. The salary shall thereafter be adjusted
according to the annual budget and the personnel poiicies and procedures of the City as may be
adopted from time to time.
SECTION 3- REPEAL OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT. All ordinances or paRs of
ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4— SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. The provisions of this ordinance are severable and if any
provision hereof is declared invalid, unconstitutional or unenforceable, such determination shall not affect
the validity of the remainder of this ordinance.
SECTION 5— EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force as of the date of adoption
hereof.
BE IT REMEMBERED that the above was read two times by heading only, passed and
approved by a majority of the Board of Aldermen and APPROVED by the Mayor of the City of Riverside,
Missouri, this, 18` day of December, 2012. �

TITLE: Salary Increase for Officer Cari Terpening I
While attending the police academy Cari Terpening was paid a salary below the amount a beginning
Riverside Police Officer is paid. With her graduation and commission as a sworn police officer on
December i3, 2oi2 her salary needs to be raised to the beginning annual amount, $3�,650. The
effective date for this adjustment is December i3, 2oi2.
