Saturday, January 12, 2013
8:00 a.m.
The Board of Aldermen for the City of Riverside, Missouri, met in special session in the Board
of Aldermen Chambers at City Hall, 2950 NW Vivion Road, Riverside, Missouri, on Saturday,
January 12, 2013.
Mayor Rose called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m. Those in attendance were Mayor Kathy
Rose, Aldermen Ron Super, Mike Fuller, Brad Cope, Seth DeRose, Aaron Thatcher, and Art
Homer.
Also present were Interim City Administrator Greg Mills, City Attorney Nancy Thompson, City
Clerk Robin Littrell, Finance Director Donna Resz, Community Development Director Mike
Duffy, City Engineer Travis Hoover, Public Works Director Tom Wooddell, and Administration
Director Meredith Hauck.
WORKSHOP @ 8:00 A.M. Interim City Administrator Mills introduced the agenda for the
meeting.
He informed the Board that staff met with the architect for the city
hall remodel and later decided that a different approach will be
taken. We will use our city engineer, public works director, and
inspector to do some office reconfiguration and also focus on the
window concerns, to make better use of the budget allowed for
this project.
Mills also explained that we are going to delay the hiring of the
executive administrative assistant until we have more time to see
how the new receptionist and her skill set works within the needs
of the staff. This will probably be a four to five month trial period,
so that staff is making the best use of our budget dollars.
Finance Director Donna Resz began a PowerPoint presentation
along with a handout given to the Board for their review of the
upcoming budget process and policy considerations. The Board
was given opportunities to ask questions and discuss issues as
different funds and procedures were reviewed.
A break was taken at 9:29 a.m. and reconvened at 9:49 a.m.
Department Heads discussed the projects they will have for the
upcoming budget year.
Mills stated that the next workshop for the Board will be on March
9 focused on Economic Development, and he asked for input
from the board on agenda items for that meeting. The Board's
third workshop session might be focused on services by the city.
