HomeMy WebLinkAbout1188 New Hire Jaclyn Carlson - PlannerBILL NO. 2013 — 011 ORDINANCE NO. //e A' AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EMPLOYMENT OF JACLYN CARLSON AS A FULL - TIME PLANNER IN THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND ESTABLISHING A SALARY AND START DATE TOGETHER WITH MODIFIED VACATION ACCRUAL FOR SUCH EMPLOYEE WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.070 provides for the appointment of employees of the City by the City Administrator with approval of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen; and WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.140 provides for the establishment of the salary of non- elected employees of the City by ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen find it is in the best interest of the City to approve the appointment of Jaclyn Carlson as a Planner in the Department of Community Development as provided herein; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1 — HIRING OF EMPLOYEE. Jaclyn Carlson is hereby employed as a Full -Time Planner in the Department of Community Development. SECTION 2 — STARTING SALARY AND BENEFITS. The starting salary for this position shall be set at $62,000 per year and the employee shall be placed on a one -year work test period. The salary shall thereafter be adjusted according to the annual budget and the personnel policies and procedures of the City as may be adopted from time to time. SECTION 3 — VACATION ACCRUAL. Employee shall accrue vacation at the same rate as if Employee had been an employee of the City for five (5) years prior to the date of hire. Thereafter, vacation leave accrual shall continue to be adjusted according to the personnel policies adopted by the City as amended from time to time (ie. — on employee's 5` anniversary of employment, employee's vacation leave shall accrue as if employee has a tenure of 10 years of city service). SECTION 4 - REPEAL OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 5 — SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. The provisions of this ordinance are severable and if any provision hereof is declared invalid, unconstitutional or unenforceable, such determination shall not affect the validity of the remainder of this ordinance. SECTION 6 — EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of February 5, 2013.
