HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-03-13 Park Board MinutesMINUTES OF THE RIVERSIDE PARK BOARD March 13, 1999 LeeAnn called the meeting to order. Attending were Bill Bright, Helen Crist, Pam Darata, Lori Krause, Wayne Snyder and Betty Burch. The minutes were unavailable and will be read March 20, 1999. Parks and Recreation Director job description was changed to delete paragraphs on custodial duties and "opens and closes facilities, such as community center, restrooins, etc." Bill Bright moved and Wayne Snyder seconded the removal of these two paragraphs. Motion carried. Lori Krause reported on the Missouri Parks and Recreation Convention held in Columbia, Missouri. She learned about a Trails Tour, patrolled by volunteers. Trails should be wide enough for emergency and maintenance vehicles. Trails were of crushed limestone. "Adopt-aSpot" was also of interest, in which local company designates land as a green spot. The Missouri Parks and Recreation Department is available to help with job descriptions of directors or other personnel. Lori presented equipment ideas to replace the sand digger in Homestead Park. Lori moved and Bill seconded to install a Super Scoop at an approximate cost of $1,000. Bill has researched by-laws and state statutes regarding park board operation standard practices. Further research is needed to assure compliance with state laws. Betty Burch reported that Mr. Young had chosen Exhibit A for the Bell Tower and has chosen a bell to be displayed. Bill presented ideas for a Christmas Lighting event for E.H. Young Park. The next meeting will be at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 1999. Respectfully submitted, Helen Crist, Aeting Secretary
