is important that the work on the fields be done early in the day so that the field can be used by
3:30 pm.
Julie Rule reported that her committee has agreed with the Levee Board to close the trails in one
(1) mile sections when maintenance is being done. Closing the trails in one (1) miles sections,
because of how the trails system works, will still allow citizens to walk two (2) to four (4) miles
at a time. The trails will also not be closed during peak use hours. Julie Rule also noted that
until further notice the trails will be closed in one (1) mile sections for the trapping of badgers,
Badgers cannot be trapped in live traps. The open traps that have to be used posed too great oFa
danger to citizens so sections of the trails will have to be closed for badger trapping.
Julie Rule gave an update from the subcommittee on the building plans for the new Community
Center. The current price is $8.5 million to add on and demo some of the existing buildings
without a pool upgrade. Jim Fakes commented that he thought that was a lot for a community
center. Sarah Thompson commented that an overview of the process will be presented to the
Park Board and the Board of Aldermen at the next meeting on February 13.
Julie Rule discussed a trail walk for all members to see what all needs to be done to the parks ~~nd
trails this year. Jim Fakes motioned that the trail walk be scheduled for after the Easter Egg
