MINUTES
January 2, 2007
6:00 p.m.
The Riverside Park Board held their regulazly scheduled meeting at the City Hall in Riverside,
Missouri, on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. Those in attendance were: Saza Thatcher, Jim Frakes,
Kathy Rose, Lori Razdeen, Julie Rule, Brent Miles and Jane Henry.
Lori Bardeen reported on the city's Northland Wellness Challenge with the cities of Gladstone:,
North Kansas City, Excelsior Springs, and Smithville. She also talked about January classes and
events scheduled for the Community Center.
Plans are underway for the city's Easter Egg Hunt. The location will be changed Renner Brernaer
to EH Young Pazk in order to more efficiently manage the event. A speaker system is needed
because, with so many children, communication is difficult. Scott Eckazd has asked to return
with his inflatable entertainment. The event and the start time of 10:00 a.m. will be advertised in
the February newsletter. Also, the Senior Tea Dances begin again in February.
Lori wants to initiate programs for youth. She talked about working with YMCA to provide
tennis lessons and also to work on a grant program through the Y for underprivileged children.
Another partnering idea is to coordinate an intramural program with Park Hill South High
School.
Julie Rule talked about the baseball field. She said we have a $7,000 bid from a local contractor
to grade the field and create the desired radius. We need 2 more bids.
Brent Miles talked about the 5 year CIP program that is on tonight's BOA agenda for approval.
Four hundred thousand dollars, $400,000, will be budgeted in July each year for 5 years for
parks improvements, if approved by the BOA.
Community Center planning is going well. All on the committee have reached a consensus on
the needs. At the completion of the remodeUadditions, more staffmg will be needed. BOA has
approved $4.5 million for demolition of the old Public Safety building, the annex and for
construction of the addition.
Procedures for Levee Trail maintenance will be worked on soon. Requests for Bids will be
ready soon. Phase lA is for Argosy to south of Intercon.
Levee Trail closings were discussed. There are several time options for closing the trail for
mowings.
The meeting continued as Mayor Rose, Brent Miles and Jane Henry left to participate in the
BOA regulaz session./
