HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-02-06 Park Board MinutesRIVERSIDE PARK BOARD MEETING MINUTES February 6, 2008 6:00 p.m. The Riverside Park Board held their regularly scheduled meeting at the Riverside Board of Aldermen Chambers, Riverside City Ha112950 NW Vivion Road, Riverside Missouri 64150, on Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Those in attendance were: Julie Rule, Jim Frakes, Ron Carlson, Norma Parrot, Deborah Leader, Mike Fuller, Mayor Kathy Rose, Jeff Rupp, Director of Public Works and Sarah Wagner, Administrative Clerk. Not in attendance were: Cathy Mousel and Lori Rardeen. Approval of minutes from Julie Rule made a motion to approve the minutes of January 2, 2008. January 2, 2008 Norma Parrot seconded and the motion passed. Park Priority List The Board discussed the priority list for park improvements. The Board will have about $70,000 to spend on this years budget because it was allocated for the Jumping Branch Trail study, but will not be needed. The Board requested that Jeff Rupp, Director of Public Works, investigate the cost of doing a study on Renner Brenner Park and E.H Young park to see what improvements and major changes will be necessary in the future. This information could be useful in planning next years budget. The Boazd will work out what to use the money for at next months meeting. The boazd asked staff to find out and report at the next meeting whether or not money not used by the Park Board this yeaz can roll over to next yeazs budget. Welcome Plaza Christmas Rupp received the cost estimate and more samples from Manneco Lights regarding the Christmas decorations for the Welcome Plaza. Rule commented that the decorative ornaments for the tree needed to be a bit bigger. She suggested that they order the next size bigger on all the ornaments. The board unanimously decided on the platinum garland with white lights and red bows with lighted centers. They also decided on the snow burst with the red center for the top of the tree. Mayor Rose said that she would like to get a new tree to put at the Welcome Plaza and leave the other at City Hall. Rupp said that after the bids come in for the construction of the Welcome Plaza, he would like to do a change order to have the hooks for the light to be built into the structure for the Christmas decorations. The cost estimate for the Christmas decorations for the Welcome Plaza is attached. Community Center and Rupp passed out a copy of the reservation packets used for the Pazk Reservations community center and the pazks for the boazd to go over.
