HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-07-02 Park Board MinutesRIVERSIDE PARK BOARD MEETING MINUTES July 2, 2008 6:00 p.m. The Riverside Park Board held their regularly scheduled meeting at the Riverside Board of Aldermen Chambers, Riverside City Ha112950 NW Vivion Road, Riverside Missouri 64150, on Wednesday, July 2, 2008. Those in attendance were: Julie Rule, Ron Carlson, Norma Parrot, Deborah Leader, Jim Frakes, Cathy Mousel, Lori P:ardeen, Mike Fuller, Mayor Kathy Rose, Jeff Rupp, Director of Public Works and Sarah Wagner, Administrative Clerk. Approval of Jim Frakes made a motion to approve the minutes of June 4, 2008. minutes from June 4, 2008 Cathy Mousel seconded and the motion passed. Renner Brenner Jeff Rupp, Director of Public Works showed the Board the map depicting all the underground Reconfiguration utilities in Renner Brenner Park. Rupp explained that there are no utilities in the way of where the Board chose to relocate the tot lot. Alderman Fuller asked about the fence between the park and the adjoining property owner. He explained his concerns about the large dog they had. Rupp replied that the City will need to replace the fence. Mayor Rose commented that the new fence should be consistent with what has been used in the other parks. Rupp distributed magazines for the Board to consider new playground equipment for the park. Skate Park Lori Rardeen met with Escapist and Afco and gave them the details of what the kids said they Update would like to see for an extension to the skate park. Brad with Afco said that he would put together a plan with prices for the next meeting. Alderman Fuller asked if anything was being done about the graffiti and trash in the p<<rk. Rardeen said that the skateboarders requested more trash cans by the skate park withoirt the spring lids. Julie Rule asked if Public Works could put up a case so that pictures of the destruction that is happening in the park could be put up with a sign that says if this doesn't stop we will close the park. Rupp said that he would have Public Works work on getting something up. Park Rupp handed out photos of all the improvements that have been done in the parks to date. He Improvements explained that the signs are in for the trail at Renner Brenner. They are just waiting to get the protective coating over the top. Mayor Rose asked about the benched for Renner Brenner Park. Rupp said they have four benched to go around the trail and two more have been ordered to go by the monument. In addition six trash cans will be ordered to replace the old one; in the park. Mayor Rose asked about the bathroom at Renner Brenner Park. Rupp replied that the new roof on the restroom is complete. However, the inside has seen a lot of abuse. Public Works will be doing some work to try and change the atmosphere of the restrooms to make it feel newer to try and stop some of the vandalism. Mayor Rose asked about removing the fencing in front of the restrooms and painting the doors. Rupp said he would have Public Works do that. Mayor rose also asked about paining the light poles in Renner Brenner Park Black to match the new benches and trash cans. Rupp said that he would look into what all that would entail. General Mayor Rose read a letter from a resident in Indian Hills about the possibility of the City Discussion putting in a race track for remote control cars. The letter is attached. Alderman Fuller announced that the City has acquired the property where the Interurban Bridge is located and plan to incorporate it into the trail system.
