On a roll call, Aldermen Burch, ~.t,•Wedua and he and were present, (Karr absent for roll call and _., ) feeler absent. Said meeting ,I was called to order by Mayor Holmes. -""i r... ~. j) ~ It was decided to dispense with the reading of the minutes of August ~~ 18, 1987, and September 1, 1987, for the present time. !,i James R. Francis, 7202 N. Woodland, Gladstone, MO 64118, presented business license for Twin Traffic Marking Corp. at 3401 N. W. Vivion Road, !!! This is for the marking of airports and parking lots. After a discussion of !~~ the area where he will park his trucks, Mny.Francis was told that all vehicles had to be parked on hard surface material and if they were not, he could be cited for this. Mr. Francis said he understood this. This was ~;j approved subject to his payment of the fee. Hal Freitoy, 10201 W. 80th Street, Apt. 40, Overland Park, Kansas, Ii!' presented a business license for Kansas City Foam at 555 N. Platte and Valley Drive for the purpose of manufacturing foam pads for car seats, arm and head rests. He said they would like to start production the first of jV' October, It appeared that an occupancy permit had not been issued for this it portion of the building, and that the business license could not be approved until an occupancy permit was issued. However, Mr. Freitoy said they would 'I like to bring in the machinery and set up the manufacturing of the foam ~I'j pads. It was brought out that there would be a meeting of the Mayor and !, Board on the 29th of September and if Mr. Freitoy had all the information ' assembled and the Engineer approved the issuing of an occupancy permit, then that could be issued on the 29th 'of September, and he is to return at that meeting if all data is received. Roy Gorton, 12206-1/2 Heady #234, Ferrelview, Mo 64163 (464-2019) ', presented business license application for Direct Air Transport, hpc. at 617 N.W, Business Park Lane. This would be a freight forwarded cargo agent for airlines and steamship lines. This was approved subject to the payment of -the fee. Peeler is present this portion of meeting (8:00 p.m.) • .. Larry E. Grainer, 7516 N. Wyandotte Street, Kansas City, Missouri, presented a business license application for Larry E. Grainer at 4400 N, W. Gateway, He said he restored cars for his personal use. He also presented a Special Use Permit. He said that once in a while he may sell one of his , cars but mostly he does it for his own personal use..:,+. These applications were approved subject to the payment of the fee. Lundy, a Sign Application Was presented for Amico Alabama Metal Industrial Corp, at 601 N.W. Eueiness Park Lane. This was approved subject to the payment of the fee. On behalf of C. B. Lundy, a Sign Application was presented for Carey Limousines at 615 N. W. Business Park, this was approved subject to the payment of the fee. A letter from the Missouri Highway Departfient of Economic Development, dated September 10, 1987 was read, concerning th• annual performance evaluation reports, Karr moved that Bill No. 87-38 being bill providing for the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein be placed on its first reading, seconded by Burch;;: the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Burch, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Shepard voted. aye; said bill was accordingly read. Karr moved that Bill No. 87-38 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Burch, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Burch, Bast, Peeler, Wedua and Shepard voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Wedua moved that Bill No. 87-38 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 87-38, seconded by Shepard, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Burch, Best, Peeler, Wedua and '='~"'Shepard voted aye; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Holmes and became Ordinance N0. 87-38. The minutes of August 18, 1987, were read and approved as corrected The minutes of September 1, 1987, were read and approved as corrected. Best said he would like to see the Public Safety Commission reactivated and would like to see the committee appointed at this meeting. Peeler inquired regarding the painting of the water tower. Wedua and Peeler checked over the curbs in Indian Hills and found that , 950 feet needed to be replaced and bids are to be gotten;. on the price of the replacing of the curbs. . . . ,- Minutr oP Rag, Maating Page 3, Sept, 15, 1987 City Clerk Betty Burch said that she hes gotten two bids on removing the two trees Prom the City's parks as follows: 1{e--wn 'l'ees deevlce Felkins Tree Service ~jhUU, UII 429.00 Karr moved that we use the lowest and best bid to remove the trees, same being that of Brown Tree Service for the sum of $400.00, seconded by Burch, the roll was called and votes were as fr'"°ws: Karr, Burch, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Shepard voted aye. City Clerk Betty Burch said that since the Fall Festival was so close she wanted to know if it would be in order to have the fall clean up from October 3 thru 17 and this appeared to be okay` City Clerk Betty Burch was authorized to purchase two tables and 50 chairs. Chief Fred McDaniel said that there would be a seminar on September 23, 1987 on the handling of hazardous materials and there would be one in October also. `~ Chief Fred Mc Daniel said that there will be a seminar on Stress - Time ' - Management at the Air World building which would cost $165.00. He would like some of his people to attend. Karr moved that it would be in order for some of the Public Safety people to attend this seminar, seconded by Wedua, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Burch, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Shepard voted aye. , Mayor Holmes announced that the Public Safety Commission would be Peeler, Wedua and Karr. I '! Mayor Holmes announced that the Finance Committee would be Best, Shepard and Betty Burch.
