A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of River= side, Missouri was held on January 7, 1986, at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall in Riverside. On a roll call, aldermen Karr, Gordy, Best, Wedua and Brenner were present, Peeler absent this portion of meeting; and said meeting was called to order by Mayor Holmes. It was decided to dispense with the reading of the minutes of December 17, 1985, for the present time. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Phelan, 4510 N.W. 50th Terrace, presented a Business License Application for Merchandise Outlet at 2707 West Platte Road. This would be for the sale of new and used merchandise, furniture, etc. The presented their receipt wherein they applied for a Sales Tax number. The application was approved subject to the payment of the fee and presentation of Sales Tax number. Peeler is present this portfonof meeting. Bill Latta was present to see if Mayor Holmes had gotten the information concerning the over-all drainage for Riverside which is needed for the Levee Districts. Mayor Holmes said he would like to obtain one more bid and then would get with Mr. Latta. Rodney Ulmer, 5133 Lakewood Dr., Kansas City, Kansas resented a Business License Application (B & B Leasing) to sell and ~or lease ~~ Bingo equipment and supplies to Coachlite Skating Rink on Northwest ~.-Gateway in accordance with the laws of the State of Missouri. He said they would like to have daytime bingo, 10:30 am to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and on Sunday the time would be from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Mayor and Board discussed the matter and decided that the zoning, parking, etc. would have to be checked into and would not be able to render their answer until the next meet- ing. Boy Scout Troop 290 was present to observe the meeting, which is one of their requirements. Peeler moved that Bill No. 86-1 being bill authorizing the court, in addition to the penal't"ies already provided"by ordinance, to grant pro- bation to determine -the length of probation to suspend imposition of sentence, and providing, for an ordinance violation for any violation of the terms of probation and authorizing"the court to imprison defend- ant in the City Jail, or Platte County Jail, or any suitable detention facility designated by the court be placed on its first reading, second- ed by Karr, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Meeting Page 2 - 1/7/86 Gordy moved that Bill No. 86-1 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 86-1, seconded by Wedua, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Holmes and became Ordinance No. 86-1. Best reported that he has received complaints about the number of peddlers being in the City. It was brought out that previously the Police Officer would try to get them to leave the City. The Committee reported on the hiring of a Maintenance Man. Brenner said that they felt the best of the applicants was Rick Euwer; that they agreed on a salary of $9.00 per hour, and to begin January 20, 1986. Rick Euwer also would be willing to work for the City, should he be needed prior to January 20, 1986 .Brenner said °? the Commtte~_ explained to Rick Euwer that--he would _ e in line for the usual increase in salary-and he understood this. "~~" Best moved that Bill No. 86-2 being bill approving the hiring ~' of Rick Euwer as Maintenance Man for the City of Riverside, Mis souri as of January 20, 1986, at $9.00 per hour, seconded by Karr, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best, Peel- er, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; said bill was accoringly read. Gordy moved that Bill No. 86-2 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Wedua, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Gordy moved that Bill No. 86-2 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 86-2, seconded by Karr, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; said bill was according- ly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Homes and became ordinance No. 86-2. It was brought out that there were some holes to be patched in the streets. Wedua reported that we have a balance with the Parkville Special Road District of $12,043.01. Major Fletcher reminded the Mayor and Board that all residences ,,.,, and businesses should have address numbers on them. ~`-~ There being no further business, upon motion duly made, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned at 9:26 p.m. ~~ ~~
