HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-08-05 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI ~... ,~ August 5, 1986 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of River- side, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Misosuri on August 5, 1986. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. and on a roll call, Aldermen Karr, Bordy, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner were present and Mayor Holmes called said meeting to order. It was decided to dispense with the reading of the minutes of July 15,-1986 for the present time. Charles R. Arnett, 8020 NW London Dr., K. C., MO 64120on behalf of Inks & Images, Inc. 2903 NW Platte Road, presented a business license application. This would be for screen printing, type setting and possible off set typing. This was approved subject to securing a sales tax number and payment of the fee. Ronald N. Johnson, RR #1, Box 2882, Smithville, MO 64089 pre- sented a business License application for Excell Fire & Security, 2902 NW Vivion Road. This would be for training people, approx- imately once a month for the sales, service and installation of fire-detection equipment. This would be an area distributor of fire detection equipment. There would be no storage and no sales. This was approved subject to no storage of equipment and no sales and the payment of the fee for the license. Ronald L. Carlson, 1826 NW Woodland, presented application with`-plans to build a double deck at said lbcation. This was approved subject to the payment of the; fee. E. A. .Romey, P. O. Box 73, Smithville, MO 64089, presented a business l~eense "applilcation for Romey'-Wiring Company, at' 432 Riverside Business Park. This would be_offices, and. warehouse for electrical construction. He said everything-would be".kept. im.the warehouse, nothing on the outside.: Thla was approvedx sub- ject'~to the payment of the fee. Ronald Hopkins, 8519 N. p+omana, Kansas City, Kansas 64152, on behalf of Hopkins & Barnette Marketing, Inc., 434,.Bus- iness Park Lane presented business license as a distributor., to retail outlets such items as small :gifts ;and toy-type".:,,items. He said, he was representative for a five-StaCe area and this would be for offices and warehouse. This.taas;~pproved subject to the. payment-of the fee. 4 .. C. B. Lundy, presented.a sign application .for Hopkins 8~ Burnette Marketing, Inc. at 434 N.W. Business;Paxk Lane, said":application was approved subject to the payment of :the fee. ' _ ,, , r Minutes of Reg. Meeting Page 2, Aug. 5, 1986 ``.. C. B. Lundy presented a sign application for Beaus and Erose International, Inc. at 404 NW Business Park Lane. Said application was approved subject to the payment of the fee. Ernest R. Golden, 1045 Armstrong, Kansas City, Kansas 66102 presented application for business license for Skyline Restaurant and Catering on NW Gateway. It appeared he did not have a Health Certificate, Sales Tax Number and the Fire Inspection was not made. Mr. Golden is to return to the next meeting on August 19, 1986, with the Health Certificate, Sales Tax Number and proper fire inspection made. Ronald Jansen, D.O., 6912 Bradshaw, Shawnee Mission, KS 66216 presented applications for two signs at 4439 NW Gateway for his offices at said location. These were approved subject to the payment of the fee. Norma Herzog, 4822- W. 78th Place, Prairie Village, Kansas in- quired what it would take to be able to sell liquor on Sundays starting at 11:00 a.m. instead of 12:00 noon, since the state has changed its laws to allow people selling liquor on Sundays to start selling at 11:00 a.m. The Mayor and Board said they would have to contact the City Attorney and an ordinance would have to be passed. `- Dennis Patel, 4717 N.W. Gateway, inquired if he would be allowed to build on the north and south side of the building. The Mayor and Board thought this would be in order if Patel would present complete set of drawings covering the plot plan, electrical, etc. and these would first have to be approved by the Planning Commis- sion and the City Engineer. A letter dated July 15, 1986, from Spencer; Fane, Britt and Browne concerning the Missouri Cities application for an increase in rates. The minutes of July 15, 1986, were read and approved as correct- ed. The following bids were received on a copier: Ricoh Ripro - Toner & Drum $1513.00 Royal - Toner, Drum, Service Policy and Delivery $1550.00 Milta - Toner, devel oper, drum and service policy $1731.00 Toshiba - toner and service policy $1737.50 Best moved that we accept the lowest and best bid, same being for the Royal copier, including Toner developer, Serv ice Policy, Drum and Delivery for the sum of $1550.00, seconded by Karr, the l Minutes of Reg. Meeting Page 3, Aug. 5, 1986 roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye. A building application was presented on behalf of Cecil King for an attached garage to his residence at 451 N.W. High Drive. This application was approved subject to the payment of the fee. Chief Fred McDaniel said Bill Palmer, ~iatricia Smith and Candice Grahm were due longivity pay and their anniversaries being July 16, August 5 and August 1 respectively. Karr moved that the City accept the recommendation of Chief Fred McDaniel that the following entitled to longivity pay of L/2 of 1% of their monthly base pay: Bill Palmer (July 16); Patricia Smith (August 5) and Candice Grahm (August 1) and that same be placed on its first reading and be Bill No. 86-~~4seconded by Best, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Best moved that Bill No. seconded by Karr, the roll `,, Karr, Gordy, Best, Peeler, was accordingly read. 86-~4 be placed on its second reading, was called and votes were as follows: Wedua and Brenner voted aye; said bill 4 Best moved that Bill No. 86-~ be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 86-35, seconded by Wedua, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Holmes and became Ordinance N0. 86-3~5. 3~ It was brought out that Robert Brought would like to be on the Planning Commission. Wedua said that he thought Mattox Road needed some gravel. A check of the records is to be made to see how much gravel has been put on Mattox Road during the past. Karr moved that the City pay for the mowing of the islands during the month of August and September, seconded by Peeler, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye. There being no further business, upon motion duly made, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned at 10:10 p.m. ~~
