R — 2014-062 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE TO ENTER INTO A SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH AND PAY CERTAIN FUNDS TO PARK HILL SCHOOL DISTRICT WHEREAS, Park Hill School District ("Service Provider") is a school district providing services, including certain educational services through its Smart Start Summer School Program and Beyond the Bell Program ("Services'), to residents of the Kansas City region, including the City of Riverside (the "City"); and WHEREAS, Service Provider desires to continue to provide such Services and requires funding to continue to provide the Services within the City; and WHEREAS, the City finds that the provision of the Services is a public purpose and the City has the capability and desire to assist Service Provider in continuing to provide Services to the public within the City; and WHEREAS, the City's Board of Aldermen believes that the City's best interests are promoted and aided by entering into an agreement with the Service Provider for the provision of the Services; and WHEREAS, The City and the Service Provider have negotiated and agreed upon an agreement for the Service and payment for the same; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Aldermen of Riverside, Missouri, as follows: THAT the City finds that the provision of the Services contributes to the welfare of the City as well as the economic and social potential of the City and its residents, that the Services are important to the welfare of the City and that the provision of funds to assist in providing such Services are for a public purpose; FURTHER THAT the City of Riverside shall pay to the Service Provider the sum of Twenty Three Thousand Five Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($23,500.00) to assist it in continuing to provide services to the residents of the City and the City, pursuant to a Services Agreement, in substantially the form attached as Exhibit A, which is hereby approved; FURTHER THAT the Mayor is authorized and directed to execute the Services Agreement in substantially the same form as set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto. The Mayor and city staff are authorized and directed to perform all acts and execute any other documents necessary or desirable to effectuate the intent of this Resolution. `.- ADOPTED AND PASSED THIS / DAY OF 2014. That the City shall pay to Service Provider the Sum of$23,500.00. 3. That the Services provided by the Service Provider shall include, but not be lirt�ited to, focused reading tutoring programs during both the summer and school year dasigned to meet the ind'rvidual needs of Riverside students attending the Park 1{ill School District wha just completed kindergarten, tirst, second or third grade and are not perforrning at grade level in order to better prepare students. Students will be pravided transportation and supplies for the duration of the programs. 1. Service Provider will provide the City with a copy of Sarvice Providei's annual program buJget with a brief summary of the accounting controls vsed. Further expenditure �eports including, but not Iimited to, the number of Riverside residents served, a detailed exp(anation of services pruvicled, and a detalled explanadai2 af prograrn expenditures is raquired on an annual basis.
