R-2014-088 A RESOLUTION SUSPENDING APPLICATION OF SECTION 5.0.J OF THE CITY'S PRIVATE FUNCTION RENTAL POLICY AS IT RELATES TO INFLATABLES, AND AUTHORIZING INFLATABLES UPON CERTAIN TERMS AND CONDITIONS. WHEREAS, on October 2, 2012, the City of Riverside, Missouri ("City") approved by Resolution No. 2012-116 its Private Function Rental Policy ("Policy"), which governs use of various City facilities; and WHEREAS, Section 5.0.J of the Policy provides that "Petting zoos, pony rides, and/or inflatables are not allowed"; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to review and update operating policies from time to time as circumstances warrant; and WHEREAS, the City believes that the use of inflatables at private functions is a reasonable use, provided that certain protections are satisfied; and WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen find it to be in the best interests of the City to suspend application of Section 5.0.J of the Policy as it relates to inflatables until such time as a more comprehensive review of the Policy is undertaken and any other revisions to the Policy are made. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: That application of Section 5.0.J of the Policy as it relates to inflatables is hereby suspended; and Further that inflatables may be permitted by the City Administrator upon the renter demonstrating to the City Administrator's satisfaction that either it (the renter), or the company providing the inflatables for use by the renter, has a general commercial liability policy in an amount of not less than $1,000,000 and that the City is named as an additional insured; and Further that City hereby authorizes the Mayor, the City Administrator, and other appropriate City officials to take any and all actions as may be deemed necessary or convenient to carry out and comply with the intent of this Resolution, and to execute and deliver for and on behalf of the City all certificates, instruments, agreements and other documents, as may be necessary or convenient to perform all matters herein authorized.
