A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on May 28, 1985, at 7:30 p.m. On a roll call, Aldermen Kar, Gordy, Best, Peeler and Brenner present; Wedua absent this portion of meeting and said meeting was called to order by Mayor Holmes. It was decided to dispense with the reading of the Minutes of May 7 and May 21, 1985, for the present time. David Brenner, 4909 Merrimac, presented application for building a house and a garage separate from the house. These applications were approved subject to the payment of the fee. Nancy Bascom, 4307 N.W. 52nd Street, explained to the Mayor and Board that she is doing some filling on her property at the same address. She said she just wanted to fill in the very low place on her property and does not plan on doing any building. Her neighbor, David Brenner said he had no objection to this filling. It was explained to her that she would need a filling or grading permit. The filling would be done at differ- ent intervals and with clay, rock, sod, shrubs, etc. and no chemi- cals or paper. It was explained to her that she would have to ~' appear before the Planning Commission with the application for filling or grading. Wedua is present this portion of meeting. Mayor Holmes will contact the firm of Spencer, Fane, Britt & Browne concerning the Water Project. John Brown was reminded of the fact that one of his tenants had put up a sign without.:first securing approval. The proposed Skating Rink ordinance was discussed. Some of the things discussed were closing hours, loitering after the ': skating. is over, sufficient parking area, amount of people per sq. ft., etc. Mr. Isley will be advised that the City is talking about the proposed ordinance. The 1985-86 Budget was reviewed and discussed; also several changes made. It was decided to check with the County concerning spraying for mosquitoes every week,-also to check in to other ways of get- ting the City sprayed, as it appeared mosquitoes were already out. ~, . ,: Regular Meeting of Board of Aldermen Page 2, May 28, 1985. It was decided to check the price of striping the street `,,, at West Platte Road. and N.W. Vivion. The minutes of May 7, 1985 were read and approved as cor- rected. The minutes of May 21, 1985, were read and approved as corrected. The matter of Brian Roberts, 5105 Merrimac, for building a greenhouse was brought up and he was willing to make the size 14'x28'; however this appeared to be too large. Chief Wingo reported that there would be 10 employees who would have $50.00 deducted monthly for their retirement and three employees who would have $25.00 deducted monthly. The Mayor and Board discussed what portion the City .would contribute toward the retirement of the employees and it was de- cided on fifty cents on the dollar, with a maximum of $300.00 per year. Wedua is to see if the Special Road District would grade VanDepopulier Road when they grade Northwood road It was brought out that Clif Mannor would be celebrating ~- its 25th Anniversary and that an invitation was extended to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m. ~.
