A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on-June 4, 1985, at 7:30 p.m. On a roll call, Aldermen Karr, Gordy, Peeler and Wedua were present, Best .and Brenner absent; and Mayor Holmes calling said meeting to order. It was decided to dispense with the reading of the Minutes of May 28, 19.85, at the present time. Bernie Vulgamott, 329 Woodland, spoke to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen concerning several items, i.e., employees 18 years and older being able to serve alcoholic beverages; that the estab- lishments serving food and alcoholic beverages be allowed to open at 12:00 noon rather than 1:00 p.m. on Sundays. - The Mayor and Board said they would look into these matters. Lynn Bultman of the Missouri Cities Water Company, General Office, St. Charles, Missouri was present to explain their water service to the City, since the time he has been with the company in 1975 - the Missouri Public Service Commission Service hearings, account the shortage of water in Indian Hills and High Drive areas, their suggestion for water storage tower and they hooked up to Kansas City in some areas. He said they were studying the situa- tion in Indian Hills. He said there are several ways they could ~ improve the water problem in Indian Hills and three of the many ways were: 1. larger pipes; 2. larger pump with larger pipe; and 3. put storage on the hill. Mr. Bultman said they are studying the situation and will get back with Riverside. James Brown, 609 W. 48th Street, Kansas City, MO 64112 presented three applications to sell fireworks in the City - at Eli's; 2504 W, Platte Road, NKC Auto Cleanup and 2700 W Vivion, on north side. These-were approved subject to the payment fees and deposits, he is also to get permission from the church for parking on its property, if that is the case. Ed Famuliner, 1209 Baker Drive, Independence, MO 64052 presented application to sell fireworks at 2401 NW Vivion Road, this was approved subject to the parking being on dust free surface; payment of the license fee as well as the deposit. Al Manning, Route #1, Box 106, Kidder, MO 64649, presented application to sell fireworks at 2300 W Platte Road (Old McCall's Service Station); this was approved, subject to his cleaning up the debris left by him previously, payment of the fee and deposit. Dan Grizzo, 1229 Liberty Drive, Liberty, MO and Zel Fischer presented applications to .sell fireworks at Dons North- .. land Mobile Sales and Harry's Outlet; these were approved subject to providing a parking plat; payment of the fees and deposits. E. H. Young's application to sell fireworks at 2401 W ~.. Platte Road was presented; this was approved subject to checking the size of the sign, payment of the fee and deposit. ~ Reg. The plans for the improvement of Woodland Road and pre- perations for receiving bids are being made. Virginia and John Scott were present and Virginia said that she had some people interested in using her green house, but the plans were not completed. A check of the easement in question on the Carolina Renner Estate will be made. A further discussion with Chief Wingo was made with regard to the 1985-86 Budget. The proposed ordinance pertaining to Roller Skating Rinks was discussed, and Mr. Isley will be notified when :there is further discussion on the proposed ordinance. A letter from K.C. Metro Task Force setting the week June 10 to 16 as Fast Week. The Minutes of May. 21, 1985, were read and approved as corrected. The Minutes of May 28, 1985, were read and approved ~ as corrected. ~' Reg. Meeting of Board Page 3, June 4, 1985 Gordy reported that the drainage on High Drive and 50th Street needed cleaning out. Peeler said there were two drains in Indian Hills which need cleaning out and perhaps bids should be obtained to correct these drains. Wedua said VanDePopulier Road needed more gravel and he said he has asked the Special Road District to grade VanDePop- ulier Road every week for one month. Chief Wingo said he checked into getting a mosquito sprayer and found the cost to be approximately $5,500.00. He checked with the spraying by airplane and gmmrnd'tHatt I: 'this its quite expensive and not as popular as it used to be. The cost of striping the streets would be $660.00 and it was decided to go ahead with it. The Islands at West Platte and No. 9 Highway need mowing and this will be checked into to see the best way to get them mowed. Clerk Betty Burch brought the Mayor and Board up to date on the application for the grant applied for to improve River- side Street.
