REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF
CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI
April 10, 1984
A regular meeting of the Board of Al
of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City
Missouri on April 10, 1984, at 7:30 p.m. On a

It was decided to dispense with the reading of the minutes
at this time.
Gordy moved that Bill No. 84-12 being bill Canvassing
the returns of the General Election of the City of Riverside, held
April 3, 1984 which are as follows be placed on its first reading:
Mayor Holmes 142 votes Municipal Judge - R. Majors 131 votes
First Ward - Alderman
W. Peeler 54 votes
Third Ward - Alderman
J. Karr
Second Ward - Alderman

That on the face of the ballots, M. Holmes is Mayor; I3. Majors
'-~ Municipal Judge; W. Peeler, Alderman First-Ward; .F. Best, Alderman
Second Ward; J. Karr, Alderman Third Ward, :seconded by. Karr, the
roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Wedua and
Brenner voted aye; Peeler absent; said bill was accordingly read.
Karr moved that Bill NO. 84-12 be placed on its second
reading, seconded by Gordy, the roll was called and votes were
as follows: Karr, Gordy, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; Peeler absent,
said bill was accordingly read.
Wedua moved that Bill No. 84-12 be placed on its third
reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 84-12, second-
ed by Gordy, the roll was called and vote were as follows: Karr,
Gordy, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; Peeler absent; said bill was
accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved
by Mayor Holmes and became Ordinance NO. 84-12.
City Clerk Betty Burch swore in the Mayor, Municipal Judge
and Aldermen Best and Karr.
The minutes of April 3, 1984 were read and approved as
corrected.

Mayor Holmes inquired as to how many maps of the City should be
ordered. After a discussion he said he would inquire to see if
several sets of the smaller maps could be obtained, depending on
the price, or that we could copy our own. He would check into
this matter and report at the next meeting.
Wedua said that concerning Booth Asphalt Co. bid on the park
pad, with the 4" asphalt, two sidewalks and the 60'x100' pad, his
bid would be $5,936.30, which was the low and best bid and therefor
it was accepted, after a motion by Karr, seconded by Gordy - a
vote was called for and all voted aye.- Peeler absent.
Karr moved that the meeting go into executive session, second-
ed by Gordy, meeting went into executive session.
Meeting reconvened, the roll was called and Karr, Gordy, Best,
Wedua and Brenner were present, Peeler absent and Mayor Holmes
presiding over remainder of meeting.
Gordy moved that Bill No. 84-13, being bill providing for
the employment of a reserve officer be placed on its first reading,
seconded by Karr, the roll was called and votes were as follows:
Karr, Gordy, Best, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; Peeler absent;

Karr moved that Bill NO. 84-13 be placed on its second reading,
seconded by Wedua, the roll was called and votes were as follows:
Karr, Gordy, Best, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; Peeler absent;
said bill was accordingly read.
Brenner moved that Bill No. 84-13 be placed on its third read-
ing and upon passage of same become Ordinance NO. 84-13, seconded
by Gordy, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr,
Gordy, Best, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; Peeler absent; said bill
was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, ap-
proved by Mayor Holmes and became Ordinance No. 84-13.
The sewage problem on Merrimac was discussed and a bid from
WMI Construction Company was received in the amount of $1250.00
plus $75.00 per head. This would be cleaning out the sewage line,
which would entail digging up the driveway at 5109 Merrimac and
replacing same. Since this was appeared to be an emergency type
matter, Gordy moved that we accept WMI Construction Company's bid
which would be in the sum of $3500.00, seconded by Karr, the roll
was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best, Wedua
and Brenner voted aye; Peeler absent;
It was decided to set up a special sewer district for any
'•~ future repairs to the sewer in this area on Merrimac.

It was also suggested by the County Health Officer
Pettit that the six houses be checked to see if they are going
directly into the sewer line without going into a septic tank

Karr moved that Winston Peeler be Mayor Pro Tem, second-
by Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr,
Gordy, Best, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; Peeler absent.
Brenner thought that Mattox Road needed patching, as
there were lots of holes in it, from the Railroad Tracks, south.
Road.
An estimate is to be obtained for the repair of Mattox
The Mayor and Board agreed to have City Attorney Don
Witt to join in with the State in the matter of collecting de-
linquent sales taxes.
Best moved that the city pay the dues for Business
Professional Association in the sum of $60.00, seconded by Brenner,
the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Best,
Wedua and Brenner voted aye; Peeler absent.
It was announced that the Levee Board will have a meet-
ing this coming Tuesday.
There being no further business, upon motion made,
~ seconded and passed, meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
