A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A POLICE CANINE INCLUDING
TRAINING FROM VOHNE LICHE KENNEL'S THROUGH THE GSA NATIONAL PURCHASING
CONTRACT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $13,875.00
WHEREAS, the Police Department has a need for acquisition of a police canine to function
as a patrol canine and narcotics search canine; and
WHEREAS, the City of Riverside in the adoption of its purchasing policy has approved the
practice of purchasing from competitive bids awarded by other governmental entities through the
cooperative bidding process; and
WHEREAS, the General Services Administration national contract (GF-07F-0712N) has
competitively bid and awarded a contract to Vohne Liche Kennel's, Denver, Indiana; and
WHEREAS, funds for such purpose are budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 budget; and
WHEREAS, with the purchase of the canine, it also includes a five-week training course for
new K9 handlers; and
WHEREAS, the City of Riverside finds it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of
Riverside to authorize and approve the purchase of the canine through Vohne Liche Kennel's,
Denver, Indiana, including a five-week training course for new K9 handlers, in an amount not to
exceed $13,875.00;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
THAT the purchase of the canine through Vohne Liche Kennel's, Denver, Indiana, including
a five-week training course for new K9 handlers, in an amount not to exceed $13,875.00 is hereby
authorized and approved; and
FURTHER THAT the Mayor and/or the City Administrator, or his designee, are hereby
authorized to execute all documents necessary or incidental to this transaction and the City Clerk is
authorized to attest thereto.
PASSED AND ADOPTED bytheBoard of Aldermen and APPROVED by the Mayor of
the City of Riverside, Missouri, the_Z2--4c day of August, 2015.

BACKGROUND: The purchase of a police canine including training that was
approved in the 2015-2016 budget. The canine will be purchased through Vohne
Liche Kennel's, Denver, Indiana. The purchase will be through the GSA national
contract. With the purchase of the canine, it also includes a five-week training
course for new K9 handlers. The dog will be dual purpose meaning it will function
as a patrol canine (building searches, suspect apprehension, and article tracking)
and narcotics searches.
BUDGETARY IMPACT: Total cost of this purchase is $13,875
