HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-10-01 Park Board Minutes RIVERSIDE PARK BOARD MEETING MINUTES October 1, 2008 6:00 p.m. The Riverside Park Board held their regularly scheduled meeting at Riverside City Hall, 2950 NW Vivion Road, Riverside Missouri 64150, on Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Those in attendance were: Julie Rule, Deborah Leader, Cathy Mousel, Ron Carlson, Norma Parrot, Mayor Kathy Rose, Alderman Mike Fuller, Jeff Rupp, Director of Public Works, Meredith Hauck, Communications and External Affairs Coordinator and Sarah Wagner, Administrative Clerk. Member absent: Jim Frakes Approval of Julie Rule noted a few typos. minutes from September 3, Julie Rue moved to approve the minutes of September 3, 2008 as corrected 2008 Deborah Leader seconded and the motion passed. ETC Meredith Hauck, Communication and External Affairs Coordinator gave a presentation to the Presentation Board over the ETC Citizen Survey results that pertained to parks and recreation. Julie Rule commented that youth and recreation programs seemed to be an important item in the survey. Maybe the Park Board should look into more youth team sports. Mayor Kathy Rose suggested that in the future the City should do just a parks and recreation ETC survey. Community Hauck gave a presentation for community center programming and proposed changes. Those Center changes included: ? Programming Using the guy for community event only and renting the meeting rooms and kitchen. ? Changing the rental policy to be comparable with other communities by renting in 4 hour blocks, raising fees and defining “resident”. Holiday Jeff Rupp, Director of Public Works explained that the holiday decorations for the Welcome Decorations Plaza have to be ordered by October 15, 2008. There was $25,000 budgeted for the decorations and they came in $8,000 over budget so the Park Board agreed that amount will come out of their budget. They also agreed that the lights on the Christmas should be changed to C-7. Renner Julie Rule explained the Mayor Kathy Rose and her met with Gary Brenner in regard to the Brenner Park plan to reconfigure Renner Brenner Park. Gary Brenner told them that most of the artifacts left are to the outside of the park near the road. He had little concern about digging 18 inches into the ground. Now we need to talk to the playground people and get the specifics. Jeff said that he would get a cost estimate for the playground equipment. Adjournment .The meeting was adjourned by unanimous consent.
