Jason,
Regarding Intercontinental, I have received approval to use the area
shown on the plan sheets as a staging area for the project. I have
instructed the bidders to only contact them once they have been awarded
the project to discuss the logistics of their occupancy of this
property; meaning there will only be one contractor contacting
Intercontinental. I have provided Intercontinental with plan sheets.
Regarding BNSF, I have informed the necessary parties of the
construction & have provided them plan sheets. Our existing agreement
with BNSF for having the water main in its existing location allows for
the work to be performed. I have verified this with their permitting
organization. We will have the contractor coordinate the necessary BNSF
Flagmen that must be on site during the construction.
Sincerely,

Intercontinental and BNSF Coordination- Missouri American Water
Abandonment
Mike,
The Levee Board met November 14th, 2012 for their monthly meeting. The
pre-bid meeting that occurred the morning of November 14th for the Phase
1 abandonment was discussed at the Board Meeting. It was brought to the
Levee District’s attention at the pre-bid meeting that coordination
efforts with Intercontinental and BNSF Railroad were being placed on the
Contractor as a requirement. At the pre-bid meeting you also discussed
that only verbal approval had been obtained from Intercon.
The Levee District requests that coordination with Intercontinental and
BNSF Railroad be provided by Missouri American Water directly. The Levee
District believes that direct coordination with both these stake holders
is critical to the success of this abandonment project. The Levee
District is concerned that the approach of requiring Contractors to
coordinate with Intercon and BNSF will require multiple contractors
contacting them without their familiarity with the project. The Levee
District requests that Missouri American Water contact Intercon and BNSF
directly and provide them, at a minimum, with a set of plans for their
input and familiarity with the project.
Also, the Levee District requests that BNSF and Intercontinental be
included in the pre-construction meeting.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
Thanks,
Jason
