Ordinance Overview
AGENDA DATE: July 18, 2017
BACKGROUND: This request is for the purchase of department software. The
program is for Brazzos E-ticketing, which is a product of Tyler Technologies. Tyler
is also the vendor for the police, court, and city finance software programs. This
gives the officer the capability to write electronic summonses versus handwriting
them. It will allow officers to be more efficient and accurate in the field,
specifically spending less time roadside where they are exposed to traffic. In
addition, it creates a smooth transfer from police records to court records
eliminating the need for someone to enter tickets two different times. It also
provides for more accurate information. The cost for this program was approved
in the 2017-2018 fiscal budget.
BUDGETARY IMPACT: $31,887
