Councilwoman Hall:
We are writing in support of your effort to build a memorial wall at the Kansas City Regional
Police Academy on Pleasant Valley Road. This wall from our understanding will represent those
fallen officers in the four-county area the regional police academy serves.
Having a memorial wall associated with the academy will lend itself to multiple meanings. It
will be a place for those who have lost loved ones to visit and remember the sacrifice that was
paid; it will be a place where those who are entering law enforcement can visit and understand
what it means to be in such a prestigious and important career, and see the names of the heroes
before them; and will link to the Trail of Heroes that winds behind the academy forming one,
complete tribute.
The brave men and women in our communities take an oath to protect and serve no matter the
cost or sacrifice. Your endeavor to erect this memorial wall will serve as recognition and a fine
way to honor those who have fallen while serving their community.
The City of Riverside fully supports your efforts of the memorial wall honoring the men and
women who have lost their lives in the line of duty. If there is anything the city can do for you,
please do not hesitate to contact us.
Respectfully,
