HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2018-038 Recognizing Platte County Economic Development Council RESOLUTION NO. R-2018-038 A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE PLATTE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: THAT the Board of Aldermen hereby approves the joint Resolution Congratulating Platte County Economic Development Council on 30 Years of Success and Wishing Them Continued Success, a copy of which is attached hereto in its substantial form, and further authorizes the Mayor to sign the joint Resolution on behalf of the City. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, the L51 day of May 2018. A Mayor Kathleen L. Rose 'ATTEST: Zlc r Robiniincaid, Gityc Clerk A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING PLATTE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL ON 30 YEARS OF SUCCESS AND WISHING THEM CONTINUED SUCCESS. WHEREAS, the Platte County Economic Development Council (PCEDC) was incorporated on June 20, 1988, as a nonprofit organization to promote economic development in Platte County, Missouri; and WHEREAS, PCEDC has been an invaluable partner with the cities of Kansas City, Riverside, Parkville, Platte City and Weston ("Cities"). WHEREAS, PCEDC began as a partnership between public and private sectors with 61 members and now has over 135 investor organizations, including 19 of the original investors; and WHEREAS, Platte County has experienced tremendous increases in growth, jobs and investment; and WHEREAS, in 1999, PCEDC was the first recipient of.the Missouri Governor's Achievement Award for Economic Development; and WHEREAS, since 1988, PCEDC has assisted with 171 location/expansion projects which filled 10,392,368 square feet of space, created 15,000 jobs, retained over 14,000 jobs and injected $1,059,175,000 of capital investment into Platte County; and WHEREAS, Platte County saw an 18% increase in employment and 40% increase in salary and wages between 1988 and 2016, and Platte County property values rose to $1.8 billion through 2017; and WHEREAS, Platte County retail sales were at $321 million in 1990 and increased to over $1.9 billion in 2017, while the population increased 75 percent. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, RESPECTIVELY, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KANSAS CITY, AND THE BOARDS OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITIES OF RIVERSIDE, PARKVILLE, PLATTE CITY and WESTON, AS FOLLOWS: THAT the Cities hereby congratulate Platte County Economic Development Council on their previous 30 years of success; and FURTHER THAT that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council and Boards in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Platte County Economic Development Co cil with the ele a cials wishin them continue success in the fiI re. . / thy L.
