Chair Cason Rule called the rr~eeting to order. Answering roll call were Deana linter, ferry Pietsch~ Randy Rase, dirk van
der irinde and .iasan Rule. Also present were Mayor Kathy Rase, Meredith Hauck, Communications and External Affairs
Coordinator, and bane Henry, E~tecutive Administration Assistant.
Motion to approve Minutes of gctober ~a, Dirk van der i_.inde rude ~ motion to approve the minutes of October
BOOR ~ ~0, 2005, and Duna v~inter seconded. All gated in favor. Motion
carried.
Car Show Presentation Meredith Hauck, comrr~unicatiansJE~cternal Affairs Coordinator,
introduced Reran McGrawand Rob Snyder, members of the High
Performance Auta Club who were on hand to hake a presentation
requesting n~aneyfarthe event they would like to hold in E.H. Young
Park during the summer of 20a. Snyder gave the presen~atian and
to[dthe cornrnissionthattheywereexcitedabaut E,H.YoungPark
saying that it would be an excellent venue far their event.
Snyder said the club is asking far 4,OOa to offset the cast of rent, part-
. ~ a-patties, and the security required by the City. He added that the
~~ event is free but that vehicle entrants pay a registration fee. They are
. ~ self supportingwith 2Dmembershipfeesand T shirtsales. HPAC isa
5 year old argani~at'ron created forthe promotion of the preservation
of Chrysler product vehicles, They average over x,50 vehicles in each
show and support aver 50 wrap sites. Depending an the weather, Choy
expect to drag between 500 and x.000 spectators each day of the twa~
`day event. The club will sell T-shirts and other iterr~s. Vendors will
dispense food and drink.

about regional advertising. Mcraw said that' advertise to clubs in
1~lichita, Springfield, Dmaha and Des Moines. They draw overnight
interest if they have a specific interest person ar feature vehicle, The
datesthey are considering,~une ~~-28, would not conflictwith any
events planned around fireworks.
Rule questioned the security requirements and asked if the club has to

i{ansas City ~cattish Highland Games -The Kansas City Scottish Highland
Games has been hosted in Riverside at ~H young Park since 266,
Campetitarsand guests havetraveled from marethan 2~statesto
...attend the games. i=xpected attendance is between 7,5~~ to 1~,D~~ for
this three-day event, which occurs ire dune. As specified in the contract
recently approved by the Board of Aldermen for the X009 games, the
Tourism Carnrnission and City staff will work with the games to mare
. accurateiy count attendance and other key performance indicators
during the garner. The Tourism Commission awarded the Highland
Games ~,~aa from the short-term portion of the Tourism i=und far the
2Da9 games and encouraged thern to applyfar a grantta receive
additional funds.
~TG~C feels that this event has the ability and appeal to draw more
people frarn a braaderarea tothe CityafRiverside, fn addition to a
more accurate attendance taunt, future applications will have to
furnish much stronger financiai accauntabiiity. Hauck added that the
.Games are under new leadership and Rose said they bring goad people
. to the City and that it is a goad family event.
NorthlandSymphanyGrchestra-The Northland Symphony is
requesting $7,70 to augment the funding for their April concert, the
fourth concert of their season. The concert will feature the High School
Competition Dinner and will take place at Bark Hill South High School.
TG~Crecammendsfundingthis request but inthe future, theSymphany
viii only be funded with grant money and TGEC urauid like to be
involved in each ofthe four concerts in Riverside. Rose said she wants
them to da a better dab of marketing Riverside. Rule pointed out that,
based on their attendance figures, tourism grant funds would be paying
as much as ~~ far each attendee and most of the people are taming to
watch a family member perform. Also, he added that we would be
paying for people and not facilities as we are with the other grant
applicants.
Rule asked far a motion for each of the grant requests. Deana Uvlnter
made a rr~otion to fund the Bell Road Barn players request far a ~O,DaO
grant and Dirk van der Linde seconded. All voted in favor. Motion
carried.

request far Platte County Arts Council Children's Theatre. All voted in
favor, ikllation was approved.

Situation
A you know, the Board of ~lderen has directed that rent will no longer be waived at the Car~n~unity Center far any
individual or organisation. FBA has been allowed to use the Community Center free of charge in the past in return for
the production of the Dinner Theater and in return for providing free audio-visual services to the City.
If F~~ was responsible for paying runt at the Cor~rnunity Center, it would cost them approximately 5,g~o per
perfarrnance, or ~.~,55~ for the season using the Cornrr~ereiai rate4 The breakdown for this is as follaws~
