HomeMy WebLinkAbout1697 Authorizing Employment of Five Part-Time Firefighters BILL NO. 2019-060 ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EMPLOYMENT OF FIVE PART-TIME FIREFIGHTERS IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND ESTABLISHING A SALARY AND START DATE FOR SUCH EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.070 provides for the appointment of employees of the City by the City Administrator with approval of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen; and WHEREAS, City Code Section 110.140 provides for the establishment of the salary of non- elected employees of the City by ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen find it is in the best interest of the City to approve the appointment of Christopher Whitlow as a Firefighter/EMT, Bryson Jaramillo as a Firefighter/EMT, Bryan Hobbs as a Firefighter/EMT, Jeremy Brady as a Firefighter/EMT, and Cameron Conrad as a Firefighter/Medic in the Fire Department as provided herein; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1 - HIRING OF EMPLOYEES. Christopher Whitlow, Bryson Jaramillo, Bryan Hobbs, and Jeremy Brady are hereby employed as Part-Time Firefighters/EMTs in the Fire Department and Cameron Conrad is hereby employed as a Part-time Firefighter/Medic in the Fire Department. SECTION 2 - STARTING SALARY. The starting wage for Christopher Whitlow is $14.00 per hour. The starting wage for Bryson Jaramillo and Bryan Hobbs in this position shall be set at $14.50 per hour. The starting wage for Jeremy Brady and Cameron Conrad is $15.25 per hour. The salaries shall thereafter be adjusted according to the annual budget and the personnel policies and procedures of the City as may be adopted from time to time. SECTION 3 - REPEAL OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 4-SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. The provisions of this ordinance are severable and if any provision hereof is declared invalid, unconstitutional or unenforceable, such determination shall not affect the validity of the remainder of this ordinance. SECTION 5 - EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of December 4, 2019.
