HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-08-11 Special Meeting Minutes MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING BOARD OF ALDERMEN RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI Tuesday, August 11, 2020 The Board of Aldermen for the City of Riverside. Missouri, met in special session in the Board of Aldermen Chambers at City Hall, 2950 NW Vivion Road, Riverside, Missouri, on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. Mayor Rose called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Those in attendance were Mayor Kathy Rose, Aldermen Al Bowman. Sal LoPorto, Jill Hammond, Aaron Thatcher, and Dawn Cockrell. Nathan Cretsinger arrived at 6 15 p.m. Also present were City Administrator Brian Koral, City Clerk Robin Kincaid, Community Development Director Mike Duffy, Finance Director Nate Blum, Police Chief Chris Skinrood. and Fire Chief Gordon Fowlston. Also present was City Attorney Paul Campo. BILL NO. 2020-034 City Clerk Robin Kincaid gave first reading of Bill No. 2020-034. New Hire Police — Orr Alderman Thatcher moved to place Bill 2020-034 on second and final reading, second by Alderman Hammond. Yes Thatcher Hammond, Bowman, Cockrell. and LoPorto. Motion carried 5-0. City Clerk Kincaid gave second reading of Bill No. 2020-034. Alderman Bowman moved to approve Bill 2020-034 and enact said bill as ordinance, second by Alderman LoPorto. Yes: Bowman, LOPorto, Cockrell, Hammond, and Thatcher. Motion carried 5-0. WORKSHOP City Administrator Brian Koral reviewed the PowerPoint Public Safety Sales Tax presentation and group discussion was held regarding the consideration of a Public Safety Sales Tax being on the ballot for the November 2020 or April 2021 election. General consensus of the Board was to have the question on the ballot. Alderman Hammond moved to proceed with the process to put the Public Safety sales tax question on the April 6, 2021 ballot, second by Alderman LoPorto. Yes Hammond, LoPorto, Thatcher, Cretsinger, Cockrell, and Bowman. Motion carried 6-0. MOTION TO ADJOURN Alderman LoPorto moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:05 p.m., second by Alderman Hammond. Yes: LoPorto, Hammond, Bowman, Cockrell, Thatcher, and Cretsinger. Motion carried 6-0. Robin Kinca d, City Clerk 1
