AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK
OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI
WHEREAS, the City of Riverside, Missouri (the "City") has adopted the City's personnel
policies as set forth in the Employee Handbook; and
WHEREAS, the City staff and the Board of Aldermen have reviewed, examined and
deemed adoption of an amendment to be advisable.
NOW, THERFORE, be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside,
Missouri, as follows:
Section 1. That the City of Riverside Employee Handbook, Section 700.7.E, Holidays, is hereby
repealed and the following Section 700.7.E is enacted in lieu thereof:
All regular, full-time employees will receive eight (8) hours of holiday pay at their standard rate
of pay for each of the holidays observed by the City. Holidays will be paid in the pay period in
which the holiday occurs. Employees scheduled to work on a holiday will receive their normal
rate of pay and the additional holiday pay listed above. For example, a Police Officer scheduled
to work a twelve(12)hour shift on Christmas Day will receive both their regular twelve(12)hours
and an additional eight (8) in holiday pay for a total of twenty (20) hours of pay for the day. A
Police Office not scheduled to work will receive eight(8)hours of holiday pay. Holiday pay does
not count as hours worked for the purposes of overtime calculations.
Any employee covered under a collective bargaining agreement will receive holiday pay only in
accordance with the agreement.
Holiday leave hours accrued prior to December 31, 2020 remain as available leave time hours for
employees, provided that an employee may carry over no more than seventy-two (72) hours of
holiday leave. The carryover date will be January 1, 2021. At that time, any holiday leave in
excess of seventy-two (72) hours will be lost and will have no monetary value. Employees who
leave the organization will be paid for any remaining accrued holiday leave hours after all City
property has been returned.
Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective upon its passage and approval.
BE IT REMBERED that the above was read two times by heading only, PASSED AND
APPROVED by a majority of the Board of Aldermen and APPROVED by the Mayor of the City
