AN ORDINANCE CALLING FOR AN ELECTION IN THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE,
MISSOURI TO BE HELD ON APRIL 6, 2021 FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY THE QUESTION OF WHETHER TO
IMPOSE A SALES TAX IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE-HALF OF ONE PERCENT FOR
THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING THE PUBLIC SAFETY OF THE CITY AND
AUTHORIZING ACTS NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT THE INTENT OF THIS
ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions Section 94.902 of the Revised Statutes of
the State of Missouri, the City of Riverside, Missouri ("City") is authorized to submit to the
qualified voters of the City, the question of whether to impose a city sales tax for the purpose of
improving the public safety of the City; and
WHEREAS, considering the significant benefit to the health, safety, and welfare of the
residents of the City afforded through the provision of public safety services, the Board of
Aldermen of the City desires to submit to the qualified voters of the City at the election to be
held April 6, 2021, the question of whether to impose a city sales tax for the purpose of
improving the public safety of the City in the amount of one-half of one percent.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF
THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, as follows:
Section 1. That an election is hereby ordered to be held in the City of Riverside,
Missouri on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, to submit to the qualified voters of the City the following
proposition:
Shall the City of Riverside impose a citywide sales tax at a rate of
one-half of one percent for the purpose of improving the public
safety of the City?
Section 2. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to take such actions as
may be necessary or desirable to cause the proposition to be submitted to the qualified voters of
the City at the election to be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, including, without limitation,
timely submittal of a copy of this Ordinance to the Platte County Board of Election
Commissioners no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 26, 2021. This election shall be held and
conducted, and the result thereof shall be canvassed in all respects in conformity with the
Constitution and laws of the State of Missouri.
Section 3. That the Notice of Election and ballots to be used at the election shall be in
substantially the following form:
"Notice is hereby given to the qualified voters of the City of Riverside, Missouri,
that the Board of Aldermen has called an election to be held in the City of
Riverside, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, between the hours of 6:00 a.m.
and 7:00 p.m., on the question contained in the following sample ballot:

Section 4. That the Mayor, City Administrator, City Clerk, and other appropriate City
officials are hereby authorized and directed to take such actions as may be necessary or desirable
to cause this proposition to be submitted to the qualified voters of the City at the election to be
held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
Section 5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of
its passage and approval.
