Chair Cason Rule called the meeting to order, Answering roll call were Deana winter, Jerry Piets~ch, Randy Rase, and
Jason Rule. Dirk van der Linde was absent. Also present were Meredith Hauck, Communications and External Affairs
Coordinator, and .lane Henry, Executive AdrninistrationAcsistant.
Motion to approve Minutes of November Randy Rase painted out that he was Hated as present in the minutes
17, ~8~8 and he did Hat attend the meeting. Deana 1~linter made a nation to
approve the minutesaf November~7r 288, asamended andJerry
Pietsch seconded. All voted in favor, Matian carried.
Tourism Fund Update Hauck reported that she updated the tourism fund since the previous
commission report at the meeting in November by adding the HPAC Car
Show at 4,~~~ making short term funding fatal $1~,50~ with 53,70a
available. song term expenses stand at 4C,C..~ with a ~~7,9fi~,9D
balance. In grant money, $3~,OaB has been expended with 70,SCa
available,
Tourism Enhancement grant Discussion Hauck distributed copies of 209 Enhancement Grant Guidelines to the
commission. the encouraged everyaneta [aokavertheguideiinesand
suggest any changes that might improve then by dune of this year
UUintersaid shewauid liketa see more official budgetdocurnents
presented by applicants for funds rather than budgets prepared
specifically far funding applications. Hauck asked to consider ifthey
wanted to keep the ~.O,OOB cap on grant applications and asked them
to think of pra~ects that might be funded ~y tourism n~anies, such as,
art~rorkf sculpture for the Argosy Parkway roundabout. Rule said that
he had a hard tine distinguishing the difference between fang tern and
chart term funding. He said he understands long term. Hauck will write
. a description of each far clarification,
Fair Based Productions Hauck gave the comrnissian copies of EBP's revenue and expenses far
the past 3 shaves asweli as data an the'0~'07 season. Since the Board
ofAldermen has directed that rentwill na langerbewaivedforuse of
the community center, i+BPwili be responsible for paying approximately
S,SGD per production ar ~7,~8D for the season, Hauck painted out
that FBP provides a great deal of in~kind services far the city, eg.~ audio
visual support at ail the city~s functions, including groundbreaking
ce~emanies. She asked the commission farfeedbackand whether ar
Hat the commission wants to keep FBP in Riverside. Rose asked if they
would da a better~ab marketing ifthey received funding. Hauck replied
that they da a iat of marketing already in the area newspapers,

only reach 1,000 people; it is very expensive forthe number of people
served and is not ~ sound business model. He added that the city would
be gluing them maney to sustain sorneth[ng they have been doing far
free. is this a goad value for the clty? Elauck suggested they rrright be
more comfortable with a 1~,OD0 grant. the also said that she has been
talking with the cites legal counsel about same options for suppart~ng
ABP and will keep the commission updated. she painted out that FBP is
not a nan~prafit organi~atian and has no interest In becoming one. the
expects to see other for profit businesses requesting funds in the
future.

especially noteworthy act of valor. A. committee then reviews the nominations and
decides what, if any, award is justified, The ~ralor Awards are in three categories, each
signifying ;the level of valor displayed: fold, silver and ~ron~e, within the law
enfaarcem.ent co~nrnun~ty these are prestigious awards, At the co~nrrilttee's discretion the

The Argosy Casino has agreed to host the luncheon for e a.me an~aunt that was
charged ~~ the ~arrlott 1n Dad ~~~ per}. The facilities will be fresh, access and
parking is much bettor and the service is e~ccptional, This sire of event is attractive to
the Argosy especially since it i held aver lunch on a weekday,
The ~C Po~~ce Credit Union, full service fir~ancia~ institution that series all law
enforcement agencies within Il~lssauri and Kansas, has agreed to sponsor the program by
paying far the [Lwa~dsa

Through the involvement of the Argosy Casino and the Credit ~Tnion I am soaking to
deve~ap a long-term relationship between this event and the City of Riverside. The
people that attend this luncheon are not dust the award recipients but their fa~nil~es, law
enforcement e~ecu~.ves and elected~appornted governrrzent officials, with the exception
of our Department, everyone who attends comes from outside of Riversides This gives u
the opportunity to showcase what Riverside has to offer as a City and the amenities of
the Argosy Casino, which is a significant contributor to the Tourism Fund,
I am proposing that monies be allocated from the Tourism Fund for this event to be
spent as follows;
