RIVERSIDE PARKS BOARD
MEETING MINUTES
August 6, 2014
Call to Order The City of Riverside Parks Board held their regularly scheduled meeting at Riverside
City Hall, 2950 NW Vivion Rd, Riverside, MO 64150. The Parks Board Meeting was
called to order at 6:05 PM by Tom Wooddell.
Roll Call Those in attendance were: City Administrator Greg Mills, City Engineer Travis Hoover,
Terri Dwyer, Jerry Pietsch, Ken Smith, Deborah Leader, LaNatte Ingram, Public Works
Director Tom Wooddell, Public Works Assistant Director Norman Buescher (recorder).
Those absent were Alderman Mike Fuller, Suzanne Johnson, Elaine Warren.
Approval of Minutes A quorum was met and the Minutes of March 5, 2014 was given a motion by Ken Smith
to approve and a second by Deborah Leader. All approved. The second set of minutes
on July 2, 2014 was motioned by Terry Dwyer to approve and second by Jerry Pietsch.
All in favor.
Trail Information City Administrator, Greg Mills explained to this board that the City would like their
input on new trail concepts, alignment, and what its view is on what to have, and not
to have. Greg explained these critical decisions would be given to the Board of
Alderman for review.
Travis Hoover, City Engineer presented information on the proposed Jumping Branch
Trail. Travis used a visual map on the City’s overall trail plan and another conceptual
location of the Jumping Branch Trail. The main trail would follow Kansas City Sewer
Department’s main trunk line along Jumping Branch. This portion has been leveled out
and cleared to the extent of placing a new trail along and above the Sewer main. The
new trail would be built with the standard 10 foot wide concrete trail with 5 foot
mowing shoulders on both sides.
An alternate trail on the upper part of Jumping Branch would connect a loop along the
southern border of 50th Street from the trails Northern point and connect back into
the main trail as stated above.
The board stated that they approve the original trail route and make the alternate as
funds are approved at a later date. If the acquisition of land for the original trail
hampers this project, use the alternate route.
Concerns Some of the board members were wondering what their term limits were?
City staff will investigate this and forward to the board members.
Adjournment Motion by Deborah Leader, second by Terri Dwyer at 6:45 PM.
Next Meeting September 3, 2014 @ 6:00 PM.
