RIVERSIDE TOURISM COMMISSION MEETING
MINUTES
November 14, 2019
1:00 p.m.
The Riverside Tourism Commission met at Riverside City Hall, 2950 NW Vivion Road, Riverside Missouri
64150. Those in attendance were: Brad Cope, Denise Hamilton, Lori Locke, Lori Boji, Noel Bennion, Brian
Koral, Mike Duffy, and Sarah Wagner.
Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 1:03 PM by Noel Bennion.
Discussion of potential Noel provided details of the request by SJR Media Group to host the Everybody’s
festival at E.H. Young Favorite Barbeque and Hot Sauce Festival at E.H. Young Riverfront Park the
Park weekend of August 7-9, 2020. SJR Media has requested use of the park without a
rental fee ($1,350) and cost of public safety services ($12,500). The City would
like to reserve a contingency of $24,500 if SJR Media Group doesn’t meet their
commitment to clean-up and restore the park to its original condition.
The Commission asked questions about the event track record and other details. It
was noted that this is the first year of this festival. There isn’t a track record for
this particular festival, but SJR has provided references from past festivals.

It was noted that the dates of the festival in Riverside allow us to be the 11 of the
20 planned weekends for this festival. We will be able to see how the festival is
received in the cities that are hosting during the months of May-July. If the
festival is not being well received, we have the opportunity to terminate the
agreement and we would not have expended any funds.
Brad Cope made a motion to waive the park rental fee ($1,350), and provide
$12,500 of public safety services with up to $37,000 maximum from the Tourism

Fund if needed for park restoration. 2: Denise Hamilton. Motion passed
unanimously.
Support for Riverside Brian asked for the Tourism Commission’s interest in continuing to support the
Chamber programs Riverside Chamber and the services and activities they provide. The Commission
is in agreement that the Riverside Chamber provides necessary services. They
would like to see the Chamber continue to expand in membership and in providing
opportunities for connect with Horizons Businesses. They would also like to see
opportunities for Horizons Businesses to connect with job seekers. Additionally,
more coordination with the Park Hill School District for student volunteers and
teaching youth about career opportunities.
Other Business The current status of the Tourism Fund was discussed. The City budget and the
Tourism Fund balance was shared with the Commission.
