R-2021- 057 A RESOLUTION APPROVING PARTICIPATION IN THE 2021 KANSAS CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE LEADERSHIP EXCHANGE PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce conducts an annual Leadership Exchange Program as an opportunity for regional business leaders and elected officials to learn from the experience of other communities in areas including regional collaboration, transportation planning and workforce development; and WHEREAS,the 2021 Leadership Exchange Program will review the efforts of Salt Lake City, Utah and identify opportunities for the Kansas City region to model solutions based on successful efforts in Salt Lake City; and WHEREAS, the City of Riverside has been and continues to support collaborative regional efforts that improve the quality of life, health and safety for residents of our City and the region; and WHEREAS, the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City has offered a $1,000 scholarship to support the City's participation in the program with the remaining $2,300 to be funded through the City budget. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: THAT the Board of Aldermen hereby approves the City's participation in the 2021 Leadership Exchange program through the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and designates Mayor Kathy Rose as the City's representative for the program; and FURTHER THAT the Mayor, the City Administrator, Police Chief and other appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to take any and all actions as may be deemed necessary or convenient to carry out and comply with the intent of this Resolution and to execute and deliver for and on behalf of the City all certificates, instruments, agreements and other documents, as may be necessary or convenient to perform all matters herein authorized. As a key regional policy leader,we would value your attendance and would like to offer you a partial scholarship for registration and participation.The 2021 Leadership Exchange for regional business leaders and elected officials is headed to Salt Lake City, Utah,October 10-12 and will focus on KC area opportunities and challenges using the lens that another metro area provides. And,what a lens Salt Lake City provides,from evolving models of regional collaboration, an extensive regional transportation plan, community focus on immigration and DE&I best practices,and a great regional workforce development story. As you know,the trip is a great way to build relationships with other area elected and business leaders. Through the generosity of the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City,we would like to offer you a$1,000 scholarship to help with the$3,300 Leadership Exchange registration fee for this year's study 1 mission. Leadership Exchange Details Trip Dates: Sunday, October 10 through Tuesday,October 12. Program Focus: This year's Leadership Exchange will examine intriguing best and promising practices in Salt Lake City including Talent-Ready Utah, regional transit planning, diversity and immigration best practices, a new multi-phased regional airport and what is the secret sauce that makes this city so successful with growth and development? Registration Fee: Your registration fee of$3,300 will be partially offset by a $1,000 scholarship supported by the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City. Registration Includes: Roundtrip air travel on the Leadership Exchange charter,two night's lodging at the Grand America Hotel, all meals,ground transportation and a robust schedule of tours, meetings, panels and discovery sessions during the trip.
