HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-05-08 Special Minutes of Special Meeting of Boazd of Aldermen of City of Riverside May 8, 2001 A special meeting of the Boazd of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall of Riverside, Missouri on May 8, 2001. Those in attendance were Mayor Betty Burch, Aldermen Beard, Burris, Flaws, Dazata and Legaard and Alderman Morse. Also present were David Blackburn, City Administrator, Chief Wylie Simpson, John McClellan, Attorney's office. Visitor: Van Wiskur, Bucher, Willis, Ratliff. Chief Simpson's comments Chief Simpson spoke regarding the proposal on the new Public Safety Building. Grant Ackerman, Universal Grant Ackerman, Universal Construction discussed areas in the fire Construction station, kitchen and bathrooms. Squaze footage was reduced. Two hundred forty more squaze footage was added to the Communications Department. It was stated it would take one year to build the Public Safety building. Housing was discussed for Public safety during construction as the Administration is looking for a vacant building to place trailers upon. Request for Proposals were discussed for the building design. Approved to advertise for Alderman Flaws moved to approve advertising for Request for RFP's for the new Public Proposals for the new Public Safety Building, seconded by Alderman Safety Building Beazd, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Flaws, Bums, Morse, Darata, Legaazd and Beard. Motion carries. Aldermen's comments Alderman Bums asked about the rusty fence behind Leisure Motors. Alderman Dazata inquired about the tattered awning and the old library building was discussed again. No action taken. Street Cuts were discussed. It was mentioned the yazd problem at 5110 NW High Dr has not been fixed. Motion for Closed Session Alderman Morse moved that the meeting go into closed session pursuant to RSMo 610.021(1) Legal issues, RSMo 610.021(2), Real Estate, RSMo 610.021(3), Personnel Issues with the Attorney, seconded by Alderman Dazata, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Morse, Darata, Bums, Legaard, Beazd and Flaws. Motion carries. Motion for Open Session Alderman Beard moved that the meeting go into open session, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Dazata, Morse, Legaazd, Beard, Flaws and Bums. Motion carries. Mayor's comments Mayor Burch said the OATS group would like to use the Community Center the fourth Monday of each month. Community Center Alderman Beard moved to approve the OATS group to use the Usage by OATS group Community Center the fourth Monday of each month, seconded by Approved Alderman Morse, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen: Morse, Legaard, Beazd, Flaws and Bums. Motion can•ies. The surveying stakes had been removed during road construction at Eckazd's new home and at 4201 NW 52°d Street and need replaced. Alderman Morse approved Scout Leader,Kurt Eckazd to use the Renner-Brenner Pazk for his Scout troop May 22 & 23rd, seconded by Alderman Burris, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Legaazd, Beazd, Flaws, Darata and Bums. Motion carries. A Girl Scout Troop had requested usage of the Park, but the Board wishes more information.
