HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-05-29 Special'~. - Minutes of Special Meeting of Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside May 29, 2001 A special meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall of Riverside, Missouri on May 29, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. Those in attendance were Mayor Betty Burch, Aldermen Beard, Burris, Flaws, Darata and Legaard and Alderman Morse. Also present was David Blackburn, City Administrator, Steve Crystal, City Attorney and Deborah Polk, City Attorneys office. Liquor License Alderman Beazd moved to approve granting Jeni Swafford a liquor license for Approved for location River Side Saloon, d/b/a as River Rock Saloon, at 4706 NW Gateway, At 4706 NW Gateway Riverside, Mo, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Flaws, Beard, Legaard, Bums and Darata. Abstained: Alderman Morse. Motion carries. Chief Simpson's Chief Wylie Simpson mentioned an emergency call on May 9th to resident, Leo comments Hobbs' home, 4800 NW High Drive. The diffibulators were used on Mr. Hobbs and said they were successful in saving his life. City Administrator David Blackburn, City Administrator presented the board with a bid from comments MARCIT regarding Workers' Compensation. Alderman Morse asked to obtain more bids and the board unanimously agreed. Bill No. 2001-55 Alderman Beard moved to place Bill No. 2001-55 on its first reading, said Bill Ratifying the appoint- Ratifying the appointment of Jim Wedua as Alderman, Ward II to fill the re- ment of Jim Wedua maining ten months of the unexpired term of Andrew Morse which e-xpires-- as Alderman April 2002, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Legaard, Beard and Flaws. No: Aldermen Bums and Morse. Motion carries. Ordinance No. 2001-55 Alderman Flaws moved to place Bill No. 2001-55 on its second reading and Approved upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 2001-55, seconded by Alderman Beard, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Legaard, Beard, and Flaws. No: Aldermen Burris and Morse. Motion can•ies. i .~ Bill No. 2001-56 Alderman Flaws moved to place Bill No. 2001-56 on its first reading, said Bill Authorizing the authorizing the City of Riverside, Missouri to employ Amy Shorts as a full time employment of employee to the position of Secretary and setting the annual salary at $25,000, Amy Shorts seconded by Alderman Morse, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Legaard, Beard, Burris, Flaws and Morse. Motion carries. Ordinance No. 2001-56 Alderman Beard moved to place Bill No. 2001-56 on its second reading, and Approved upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 2001-56, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Morse, Bums, Darata, Legaard, Flaws and Beard. Motion carries. Bill No. 2001-57 Alderman Beard moved to place Bil] No. 2001-57 on its first reading, said Bill Authorizing the em- authorizing the employment of Brian Anderson as a full time employee and ployment of Brian setting the salary at $24,750 annually and to the position of Maintenance •~~~,., Worker/Public Works for the City of Riverside, seconded by Alderman Morse, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Burris, Darata, Legaard, Flaws, Beard and Morse. Motion carries. Ordinance No. 2001-57 Alderman Morse moved to place Bill No. 2001-57 on its second reading, and Approved upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 2001-57, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Morse, Burris, Darata, Legaard, Flaws and Beard. Motion carries. Bill No. 2001-58 Alderman Darata moved to place Bill No. 2001-58 on its first reading, said Bill Authorizing the em- authorizing the employment of Christopher Brenner as a seasonal employee to ployment of the position of Maintenance Worker/Public Works at an hourly rate of $8.00, Christopher Brenner seconded by Alderman Beard, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Bums, Darata, Flaws, Beazd, Legaard and Morse. Motion carries. Ordinance No. 2001-58 Alderman Flaws moved to place Bill No. 2001-58 on its second reading Approved and upon passage of same, become Ordinance No. 2001-58, seconded by Alderman Morse, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Flaws, Darata, Beard, Legaard, Morse and Burris.. Motion carries. Bids received from Two bids were received to obtain services for the legal description on the TIF Shafar, Kline & Warren project from Shafar, Kline and Warren for $7,000 and John Luetjen for $9,000. and John Luetjen 2 t ,~ ti Bill No. 2001-59. Alderman Flaws moved to place Bill No. 200]-59 on its first reading, said Bill Payment of Bills authorizing the payment of certain indebtedness listed therein, seconded by Alderman Dazata, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Beard, Legaard, Morse, Bums and Flaws. Motion carries. Ordinance No. 2001-59 Alderman Morse moved to place Bill No. 2001-59 on its second reading Approved and upon passage of same, become Ordinance No. 2001-59, seconded by Alderman Legaazd, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Flaws, Darata, Beard, Legaard, Morse and Bums. Motion carries. Motion for Closed Alderman Flaws moved that the meeting go into closed session Session pursuant to RSMo 610.021(1), Legal Issues (2) Real Estate and 610.021(3) Personnel Issues with the City Attorney, seconded by Alderman Beard, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Bums, Darata, Legaard, Beard and Flaws and Morse. Motion tames. Motion for Open Alderman Dazata moved that the meeting go into open session, seconded by Session seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Legaard, Beazd, Flaws, Morse and Bums.
