HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-01-18Minutes of Regular Meeting Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside, Missouri January 18, 2000 A regular mcetigg of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in in the City Hall of Riverside, Missouri on January 18, 2000. Those in attendance were Mayor Pro-Tem, Betty Burch, Aldermen Darata, Super, Teters, and Flaws. Also present were Ann Daniels, City Administrator, Louise Rusick, City Clerk and Steve Crystal, City Attorney. Absent: Mayor Rule and Alderman Beard. Minutes, January 4, 2000 Alderman Teters moved that the minutes of January 4, 2000 Approved be approved, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Burch, Flaws, Teters and Super. Absent: Alderman Beard Motion carries. Approval for Liquor License Alderman Teters moved to approve issuing a liquor license, for property at 4706 NW Gateway. liquor by the drink, for the property at 4706 NW Gateway. Applicant, Retta Pickering and the The name of the applicant is Rena Pickering and the name name of the business, River Rock of the business to 6e River Rock Saloon, seconded by Saloon. Alderman Super, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Burch, Flaws, Tetera and Super. Absent: Alderman Beard. Motion carries. City Administrator Comments Since the Board has not received any recommendatioes from the Parks Committee on improvements to the E.H. Young Park, the issue was tabled until the neat meeting. The Mayor's Prayer Breakfast will be Wednesday, Feb. 23`~ at the Hyatt and the deadline to make reservations is Feb.1'`. Alderman Burch and Flaws will attend. Ann mentioned the developer; Jack Miller is proposing a planned subdivision of 21.6 acres of ground south of Houston Lake in Kansas City (15.6 acres) and in Riverside (6.0 acres). Access will be from High Drive and Edgewater Trail in Houston Lake. Tom Nero, Harrington and Cortelyou, representing Jack Miller LLC, will present a courtesy review to the Planning and Zoning Comm. on January 27"' at 7:30 p.m, of a Preliminary Plat for property located in the Brencrest Addition which includes 14 Iota to be developed in R-1 in Riverside. Visitors Comments Betty Johnson mentioned a vehicle is parked on dirt with a "For Sale" sign on it across the street from 5110 NW High. The violatlon will be mentioned to Dwight Flowers, Codes Enforcement Officer for action. City Clerk announces candidates Louise Rusick, City Clerk announced candidate filings for for April 4s' General Election the Apri14, 2000 General Election. Incumbent, Mayor Ed Rule, opponent, Alderman Betty Burch. Ward T, Incumbent, George Flaws. Ward II, Incumbent Brenda Teters, opponents, Juanita Taylor and Andrew Morse. Ward III, Tom Smitley, Gary McMichael and Rochelle Legaard filed for the seat now held by Alderman Burch. Bill No. 2000-05 Alderman Teters moved to place Bill No. 2000-05 on its first Payment of Bills reading, said Bill authorizing the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Burch, Flaws, Teters, Super and Darata. Absent: Alderman Beard. Motion carries. Ordinance No. 2000-05 Alderman Flaws moved to place Bill No. 2000-OS on its Approved second reading, and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 20011-05, seconded by Alderman Darata, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Flaws, Teters, Super, Darata and Burch. Absent: Alderman Beard. Motion carries. Bill No. 2000-06 Alderman Super moved to place Bill No. 2000-06 on its first Acceptance of Bids on reading, said Bill provides for talring of bids for $8,503,596.16 $8,5113,596.16 and authorizing the creatioe of an additioeal city depository for highest and best bids, seconded by Alderman Darata, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Tetera, Super, Darata, Burch and Flaws. Absent: Alderman Beard. Motion carries. Ordinance No. 2000-06 Alderman Flaws moved to place Bill No. 2000-06 on its Approved second reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 2000-06, seconded by Alderman Super, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Super, Darata, Burch, flaws and Teters. Absent: Alderman Beard. Motion carries. Bill No. 2000-07 Alderman Darata moved to place Bill No. 2000-07 on ifs first Acceptance of Bids on reading, said Bill provides for acceptance of bids for 5800,000.00 5800,000.00, seconded by Alderman Teters, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Burch, Flaws, Teters and Super. Absent: Alderman Beard Motion carries. Ordinance no. 2000-07 Alderman Super moved to place Bill No. 2000.07 on its Approved. second reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 2000-07, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Burch, Flaws, Teters and Super. Motion carries. Motion for Closed Session Alderman Super moved that the meeting go into closed session pursuant to RSMO 610.021(1) discussion of legal issues with the City Attorney, seconded by Alderman Darata, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Burch, Flaws, Teters, super and Darata. Absent: Alderman Beard. Motion carries. Motion for Open Session Alderman Super moved that the meeting go into open session at 8:25 p.m., seconded by Alderman Darata, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Flaws, Burch, Darata, Super and Tehrs.
