Minutes of Regular Meeting of
Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside
June 20, 2000
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was
held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on June 20, 2000 at 7:30 p.m.
Those in attendance were Mayor Betty Burch, Aldermen, George Flaws, Ray Beard,
Rochelle Legaard, Pam Darata, Andy Morse and Ron Super.
Also present were Louise Rusick, City Clerk, Chief Wylie Simpson, Steve Crystal
and John McClellan, City Attorneys Office.
Minutes, May 31, 2000 Alderman Super moved that the minutes of June 6, 2000 be
Approved approved, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was:
Aye: Aldermen Beard, Super, Morse, Darata, Flaws and
Legaard.
Chief Simpson's Chief Simpson stated on Wednesday, June 11"' "spotters"
comments (personnel) telephoned business owners to ask them to listen
for the siren testing. It was determined Highway 9 and I-635
are dead spots. The Blue Valley Public Safety will send a
representative Friday, June 23'~ and provide a presentation
for the placement for sirens in the City.
Comments by Visitors Jessica Jacobson, 4747 Platte Purchase Drive, Riverside, Mo.
complained about a person on staff at the City pool. Sbe said
she was "locked out" due to filled to capacity since some of
the local daycare's children were in the pool She had
suggestions and mentioned other concerns. The Mayor said
she would investigate.
City Clerk's comments Louise Rusick told the board seventeen (17) Fireworks
Licenses were issued to operators.
Bill No. 2000-56 Alderman Morse moved to place Bill No. 2000-56 on its first
Payment of Bills reading, said Bill authorizing the payment of certain
indebtedness listed therein, seconded by Alderman Darata,
the vote was:
Aye: Alderman Morse, Super, Flaws, Darata, Legaard and
Beard.
Motion carries.

Ordinance No. 2000.56 Alderman Flaws moved to place Bill No. 2000.56 on its
Approved sewed reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance
No. 2000-56, seconded by Alderman Legaard, the vote was:
Aye: Aldermen Super, Flaws, Darata, Legaard, Beard and
Morse.
Bill No. 2000.57 Alderman Beard moved to place Bill No. 2000.57 on its first
Approval to hire Joshua reading, said Bill authorizing the employment of Joshua N.
CoWns as a fiill-time Collins as a full-tune Public Safety Dispatcher effective Juty
P. S. Dispatcher 5, 2000, setting the starting base salary at $22,000 a year
minimum with full benefits and that he be considered for any
increase in salary, as a result of the board's evaluation of our
present salary structure, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the
vote was:
Aye: Aldermen Beard, Morse, Super, Flaws, Darata and
Legaard.
Motion carries.
Ordinance No. 2000-57 Alderman Morse moved to place Bill No. 2000-57 on its
Approved second reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance
No. 2000.57, seconded by Alderman Legaard, the vote was:
Aye: Aldermen Beard, Super, Morse, Legaard, Darata and
Flaws.
Motion carves.
General Discussion Alderman Super mentioned Public Works employees opened
the storm sewer on the South side of Duane Rubble's
property.
"Caution tape" will be placed around Pic Plaza so people will
be aware of the danger.
Alderman Flaws said the hole is still in the middle of NW
Woodland in front of the residence at 2304 NW Woodland.
He also requested a sidewalk on one side of Lakota Court
Attorney John McClellan spoke regarding the proposed
°°Land Use Plan" mentioning Mr. Snowden's property (10.5
acres) next to the Super 8 Motel Mr. McClellan explained
the two (2) changes made on the Land Use Map. Mr.
Snowden's letter requesting a change in the proposed plan is
attached and made a part of these minutes.
Recess A brief recess was called at 8:05 p.m.

Reconvene All Aldermen responded to roll call and the meeting
reconvened at 8:10 p.m.
Closed Session Alderman Flaws moved that the meeting go into closed
pursuant to RSMo 610.021, (1) for discussion of legal issues,
610.021(1), 610.021(2) real estate, and 610.021(3) personnel
issues with the City Attorneys, seconded by Alderman
Morse, the vote was:
Aye: Aldermen Beard, Darata, Super, Flaws, Morse and
Legaard.
Motion carries.
Open Session Alderman Morse moved that the meeting go into open
session, seconded by Alderman Darata, the vote was:
Aye: Aldermen Morse, Super, Beard, Morse, Legaard and
Flaws.
Motion carries.
Adjournment By unanimous decision, the meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
